![]() Hello, so i have an aftermarket deck and i need to install the radio antenna plug into it. Since the stock plug ahs two prongs, i already cut it off and installed a motorolla type antenna plug. however my reception is still bad. How do i install the motorolla style antenna plug because when i stripped the antenna wire, there was a plastic tube in the middle and the copper wires were surrounding the plastic tube, when i installed the new antenna plug, i just put the copper in there and not the plastic tube. is that wrong? also how do i install new stock headlights? thanks!!!!

If you went to a stereo shop or maybe even a radioshack there is an adapter to convert the two prong antenna plug to the single. But since you already cut it, i donno what to tell you.

really? i googled "how to install a radio for a 1993 nissan 240sx" and the first link, i believe was a pdf file that said to cut the two pronged one off. by the way, radioshack dicontinued selling products for cars so they most likely wouldnt have the adapter.

Crutchfield has the adapter. I also have a spare one. It converts the stock Nissan diversity antenna to the Motorola plug.
The wires are shielded. You should haven't cut it. Now you have noise in the line. Why would you cut something before determining what to do after you cut it off? What you could do is shield the portions that you cut off. You can also get a noise eliminator for antenna from Crutchfield. Check FSM for headlights. |

Antenna cable is shielded, just solder it back to OE spec. Use the larger of the two, the smaller one is the rear glass antenna but your aftermarket deck is designed to work with a dual diversity system.
And there's other places besides Radio Shack to buy audio parts. But then if you're just going in blind with a pair of wire cutters it doesn't matter anyway. |

not to jack your thread or anything but...
i have an 1989 fastback and my antenna is not powered. it is the screw on type that you can just unscrew. my question is, is there any other different antenna that i can screw into the originals place? i dont like how high my antenna is. and since it doesnt retract, its always sticking out high. |
