Fresh Ka-t pouring out smoke
I boosted my rebuilt DOHC about 10 000K ago and just installed a turbo kit;
t25 megan bottom mount mani xs turbo elbow xs 3" dp greddy 2.5" cat back megan racing cat sr370cc injectors n60 maf (blowthrew) SAFC2 FMIC 300zx fuel filter Ok, I had a bad oil pan gasket and my buddy replaced it. I went and got the car and drove it home after he fixed it and there was no problem ( about 30min drive) but when I got home I could hear coolent spittin into the reservoir. Then I was driving to work and noticed the temp was raising and was at about 3/4 so I pulled over and let it cool down then drove to work. Was driving it home and same thing. So I brough it to work ( never letting it go past 4/5 the way before pulling over and letting it cool down ) and at lunch I parked it on a hill and bled the system. ALOT of air came out ( bled it for about 15 mins ) so I let it sit till after work and I drove it home with no problems. When I got home I could hear the same thing in the reservoir (the coolent spitting into it) which might be normal since I just bled it. NOTE my bleeder bolt was broken off when I bought the motor (the one on the intake mani) and it has gave me alot of problems bleeding the coolent system.\ NOW TODAY, I noticed I was freakin POURING out smoke, it had almost a blueish tint to it. BUT I have had many cars with rings gone and this did NOT look or SMELL like it NOR did it smell like coolent. Its almost like Im burning WAY rich because the tail pipe is like BLACK and my autometer A/F gauge is reading all the way rich all the time. But anyways I took it to work and no overheating, then I was taking it to my friends shop (to check out why it was pouring out smoke )and it started to get hot again and was just pissing out smoke ( people behind me were staying FAR behind me lol ) So I pulled over and herd the reservoir spitting again and drove it to my brothers house and now its there. I took out my oil dip stick and smelt the oil and it smelt kinda like fuel so I didn't want to drive it and detonate. I talked to my friend and he said he had the same symptoms and it was his injector O rings. I did put them in and I have never done it before so that might be it. But that wouldn't explain the overheating, or would it? PLEASE let me know what you guys think, I would really like to hear some feedback

shyte, thats terrible to hear, hows your timing, spark plugs, did you put vaseline on the injector o rings,(thats what i hear) before you put them in, you did say it was your first time. check your piggyback and idk maybe you should retune it.

but here's how you do it properly 1. use new o-rings. 2. lube them up with motor oil or something similar 3. twist and push *by hand* until you feel them snap into place if they are leaking it will flood affected cylinders while parked and dilute your oil with gas. you'll be able to smell strong gas with the oil cap off. |

damn that sucks. I just had my head rebuild about 1000miles ago and i have smoke too. If your smoke is blue then i would think you are burning oil, not running rich becuase the smoke would be blackish, but you say your a/f meter is indicating your car is running rich so i dont know what to say.As for the overheating, when was the last time you replaced the water pump and thermostat?

did you upgrade your cooling system w/ a bigger radiator and electric fans? the turbo is gonna produce a lot more heat. also if you overheat your car past the 3/4 mark, then it could warp the head, or block causing your headgasket to leak. with the high pressure that the turbo is putting on that headgasket, it could easily be a blown headgasket.
