Equals your "raised" hood, which is pretty pointless, wait until you get into a front collision so it can shear into the cabin..

Raised hood is about as pointless as sleepy eyes.

And no, it doesn't cool your car down.

Even nubs over at nico know the answer to this thread.

That's Mark's car and that pic is hella old. Get a real vented hood. Instead of washers, use a spacer dammit since we all know that you're gonna do it. LOL

No, not at all. It has air inducing effects. As stated before, Hondas do this to get fresh air to their ITBs since the intake manifold is towards the rear of the engine back. The differences in pressure causes air to enter the engine bay. The only time you'll really vent air is at a standstill. It's mostly for show on anything other than an ITBed Honda, which I think looks horrid.

The raise hood dosnt let air out...retards.

It actualy sucks air in. That is why, muscle car guys have this type of hood design.

And your a NOOB for even asking for a writeup for this.

I have a raised hood. Just not crazy raised like that s14. Just enough to fit two fingers in.
And its fun to watch the rain get sucked in on the freeway =]

Wow, I'm flabergasted.

People actually purposely modify their hoods to look this fucked up?

It looks like your fenders and hood don't align properly.

I'm speechless.

FYI there are 2 little hooks located near the hood hinges that are designed to engage and buckle the hood in the event of a frontal impact. Raising the hood doesn't allow these hooks to engage and will enable the hood to slice through the windshield decapitating the occupants.

But hey what the hell, in the interest of being cool be my exclusive guest and run your hood that way. At least when your head gets chopped off you won't be able to post anymore

no, why would you stack bolts? the bolts you need are m8x1.00 and they are course and i used nuts instead of washers so i didnt have a half a million washers. I used to 1/2" in height nuts that slide over the bolt. Both from Ace. DONE! *a

To add to the general body of knowledge, if you have ever seen a picture of a vehicle in the wind tunnel, you will notice that the there is a high pressure area immediately in front of the windshield. This is because air is hitting the base of the windshield.

When you raise the hood like that, you create an opening for air to go through. Remember that air is lazy, and tends to go from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure.

The area around the firewall is a low pressure area because the engine and vehicle body block most of the airflow.

So when you raise the hood like that, air will tend to go into the engine bay from above, and not the way you think it would go. Read up on cowl induction to find out more.

But again, this is a generalization and may not be true without testing. The shape of the windshield and vehicle play a large role.

Thats what i said. But in 3rd grade grammar.

And a lil comment on the s14 posted.

Looks like the owners a ricer. Has enough money to buy a body kit and some rims.
But ghetto painted his headlights and lifted his hood to where it looks retarded.
And having a front bumper with an opening that huge, and all you see is the frame...no IC or anything. So guessing its a stock KA. YEEE!
EDIT: Looks more like a fanboy now. Drifter wanna be with them zipties.

also, if you used longer bolts and spacers on the bottom part of the hinge, where the hinge bolts to the body of the car, you would be rasing the 2 little hooks too. then they should still go into the hood fine, and keep you from getting your head cut off, right?

Ugh, yeah dude, its totally gonna go right though the wind shield. its gonna shear off all four bolts at the same time, and its not gonna flex up any. its gonna go right through the base of the windsheild.

AFK to chain my hood down for super safety.

christ, have they taken your kids away yet, Mr Rocket scinetist?

this many replys? for this?

wow

ok

why? "because I saw it in some cool pics from a magazine"

is typically the response

get a radiator and a good fan and some cooling ducting.

I havent seen any proof that this "mod" increases cooling in any way that is not marginal at best.
