A/C Belt

KA24DE- Ok so my a/c does not work. I don't plan on fixing it anytime soon so I decided to take the belt off to get some weight off the crank.

First off is doing that gonna hurt anything? If so what and why.

Second, if its ok to do so, I'm having trouble getting the alternator to tilt to take that belt off first (then I have to do the power steering belt) so I was wondering could I just snip the a/c belt?

I find it pretty pointless to just get rid of your ac.

Especially being as how you live in florida.

Ac is something that I'd rather loose power over than get rid of.

To answer your question, just cut the belt. You might as well remove the whole accessibly if you truely are fed up with it.

No ill effects are to be had.

Yeah I know what you mean. But this time of year it gets cool so i'll just turn the heater on. And when its summer I just roll the windows down and I am fine, it doesn't bother me anymore I lived down here long enough.

I just figured since I don't plan on fixing it for a long time why not just take the belt off for the hell of it? I don't know what is wrong with the a/c all I know is when I push the button nothing happens and the light on the button doesn't even turn on.

I will get it fixed one day but I can't even predict when that will be so I figure why not? I figure when I do decide to fix it then I will take the time to loosen the other accesories and pop a new belt on then tinker with it. Thanks for the response, appreciate it.

check fuses.
if good, try recharging the system.
on some cars, if the pressure is super low the a/c system will not engage.
