alright so i bought my 91 240sx htchbk SE for $800 RUNNING so that was amazing.... nOw i just have a small problem the car seems to have BALLS when its running and i give it gas. but when im at a stoplight or what not and i RELEASE the gas.... the car goes retarded and turns off. the car runs good as long as i step a little on the gas. also something i noticed is that the car iddles wack.... NOT GOOD. the engine is good i know for a fact cuz.. DUH oviously it gets me places. ALSO somethign visible i noticed if that on LOW RPM's grayish/blackish smoke is released from the exaust. idk exactly if its burning up oil or not. what are SOME POSSIBILITIES of the car turning off when i release the gas?

balck smoke = running rich
check your injector o rings, timing, make sure your injectors are not stuck open, fuel pressure, vacum lines.

Don't know if the idle problems are related to the smoke. But the wierd idle and cutting off at low RPMs could be due to the idel air control valve being clogged/stuck/broken.

yeah my cousin mention SOMETHING like that.. i know it has to do with GAS when it comes to the SMOKE i know bluish smoke is OIL BURNIN so im glad its not that. the previous owner that i got it from did'nt know SHIT! about it haha i low balled him from $1,500 :P whatd u think. i mean selling a 91 240sx htcbk SE , with performance strut bar under the hood. lowering springs( idk what brand i have'nt checked) with brand new tires, S-14 seats & interior, drift E-brake( some mechanism of the BUTTON that does not LOCK the ebrake unless u PULL on the button UP) comes in handy for drifing i suppose" etc etc all for just $800 ... tells me he did'n tknow what he had but i have bette rplans for the car

. wich is why my question came to be. so black smoke is running rich... hmm.. not really economical if i ask me. TIMING was the 1st thign in my mind when it came to the crazy ass idling but my cousin said he did'nt think that was it. wich i thought in the contrary i will check soon . what is the advance or retardation degree in wich is should be ? so i can check with my timing light if its good.

i can;t believe i am about to say this.... but looks like you need to search buddy. you see that button on top that say "search" yeah click it. then type something like "Black smoke KA" or "Idle issue and smoke" something along those lines. ims ure after a few mins u'll find the answers to all your problems as it has been covered in thsi forum multiple times. you look like a noob so search!@!!!
