EGI Fuse

The EGI fuse in the engine compartment fuse box keeps blowing!

That car will start and then run for a while and then blow the fuse, and die causing the fuel pump relay to buzz.

Also, when I put a new fuse in, it looks like the alternator is not charging the battery...

The voltage drains when the car is running, and then the fuse will go, and the car will die.

Help! Please!
I think it's a vibration based problem, so i'm assuming somethings open and grounding, and blowing the fuse. However I don't know where to look.

Hmmm....have you checked your alternator? Maybe one of the soleniods in the alternator may be shorting out causing you to blow fuses. Take a voltmeter and measure the voltage at the battery when the engine is running. You should be getting a steady 14 volts to the battery. Anything higher or lower means your alternator may be going bad or has gone bad.

If the alternator checks out okay, then start looking at your wiring. You install any new electrical components to your car lately?? Could be one of the wires in the install was wired incorrectly & shorting out your engine.

Anyhow, hope this helps.
