Temp gauge not working KAE

I recently replaced my KAE engine with another one, and used the same harness and temp sensor that goes in series with the lower coolant hose. the problem is right now after the swap, the temp gauge is not working. I thought it was the temp sensor on the lower coolant hose because I ohmed it out and found OFL. I just got another one and it also read OFL. Is this normal, or am I going to have to get my money back for the "newer" temp sensor?

what should the spec be for the sensor when i OHM it when its cold? warm?

thanks in advance.

-Tony.

The sender in the lower hose trips the cooling fan, nothing else. The gauge sender is up on the manifold inlet neck.

I tested that sensor on the manifold and it seemed okay, Ill have to check my wires for proper contact then. Thanks for responding, I know where my problem is now.
