SR20 panting?

I just installed a new turbo and got the car running, along with some seriouse exhaust leaks the car is panting. My tach dosnt work but it sound like its revving from 800-1500, rising to 1500 and then falling right back to 800 or so. and it will not stop. When i first started it, it didnt idle goofy until about 3 mins later.?? i check all my vaccum hoses and my MAF.

The two things I would check are coolant temp sensor, and IACV..
is it doing the rising snd falling fast(./././)(../.../../.../) or just tying to idle but erratic. (not stable).

Anyway coolant temp sensor and IACV.

or maybe its a vacuum leak you cant see - and an exhaust leak thats bad could do a similar thing - do you have proper vacuum when its running? - 15inHg minimum i mean.

What about a boost leak test? Have you done that?

also - y doesnt your tach work? It's kinda something you want on a car you modify

also - what else is modified and what else did you change besides hte turbo?

beleive it or not - i had a similar weird idle that went away when i did a rad flush at work (pressure test/fil) you could try burping it (i assume you had to pull coolant to do the turbo swap - or you made a huge mess) So - first id list whats done here - then i'd check my coolant and burp the system, then boost leak test/ vac test, and then test the iac and cts voltages.

Since it didnt do it b4 and it does it now it's likely to be something that you touched (not so likely its a iac or cts) did you change the bov?

This was your coolant temp sensor, thats one of the audible warnings and visual warnings it gives off when it senses a problem!!!

Vaccum is going from 19-22inhg.I spilt a shitton of coolant doing the turbo and it needs to be refilled, and the exhaust leak is really bad. Im going to make the ECU tell me if theres any error codes after tighting all the bolts again and looking things over better. The tach thing is from the swap and i just never got one.I will get one for christmas i hope : )

the coolant temp sensor isnt bad in my car - it just seen hot air pockets in the system and freaked... but yes - the coolant temp sensor is what did the idle weirdness... but he shouldnt check his cts or iac yet since he said that his coolant isnt even full. - CTS is most likely not bad and i dont see the iac doin that to the idle even tho i heard of hondas doin that.

s13dan : fix the exh leaks - and burp the system of air - and you're car will probably idle as it did.

you realize you told him to check sensors - and until i told him to think about a rad flush/burp you didnt say anything like that.

I told him what he should really check - you told him to check a iac -

Teach me master...

I'm pretty sure ur red tictacs are attitude related...
