Over the past few days, I noticed the clutch on the Nissan was feeling softer, gradually getting worse. It was disengaging further and further through the stroke. Yesterday, I get in to leave to school, start it, push in the clutch, and try to engage reverse...it won't go. The clutch isn't disengaging fully, which means I had to slam the shifter into reverse, accompanied by the sound of angry synchros, in order to position it so I could jump-start the Chevy. I went to try to move the Nissan this morning, slammed the thing in reverse, and the damn thing is moving even with the clutch to the floor. Shit...I essentially have no use of the clutch pedal. I'm not sure what is wrong; I'm thinking the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. I was thinking I was just low on fluid, but there is plenty of fluid in the reservior (albeit, nasty, old and possibly original fluid.) Anyone ever experience this who could confirm my suspicion?

i had something similar with my s13. i was losing fluid though. i noticed a small puddle under my car so i check my clutch slave cylinder and sure enough the o-ring inside was broken.

the fluid has a lot of water (turning it black - thats how hydraulic fluid works) absorbed in it - bleed it no matter what

you might have air in it - a bad part - or something like that - first i would look for wetness, and then bleed teh clutch. I had a similar problem in winter before it was weird - after parking the car - and letting it sit a week and a half - then starting and driving, the clutch disengaged less each time as i went towards the gas station... i think water evaporated out of the fluid and then upon cooling froze in a bubble - and then when it got hot became compressable again.

If you noticed the pedal soggy and gradually got worse to not even engaging/disengaging, I would say its your clutch MC no doubt. When you step on the pedal, it pushes the fluid down the lines and forces the SC to open up. When it goes bad, the piston in the MC doesnt move hence the fluid doesnt get pushed. I have had the same problem in 2 prior cars with the exact symptoms your having. When replacing this part, dont cheap out and buy used unless you know its in good condition. I would just buy a brand new one and save the headaches. Good luck dude.

wont disengage, rad! I hope I dont have that issue. Mine is feeling sketchy.

Edit:

possible issue. Seized throwout bearing. AKA, instead of turning it wore through the clutch plate. (worst case senereo)

most likely: fluid issues, bleeding and checking lines might help. Maybe the piston isnt ligned up with it anymore. You can eyeball it if you lay down next to the car.

me and my friends have had that happen and it's just the return spring on your clutch peddal just pull it back up and it should be perfect!

yea its probably the sc. this happened on one of my buddies miata. does this also happen when its cold out side? sorry to thread jack but i dont wanna start a thread for this but i started my car up one morning and put it in reverse and it kept going back into neutral and when i pressed in the clutch it took longer than what it usually does to disengage( thought it was sc going out too) but it kinda fixed itself when the car warmed up. first time if been driving mine in the winter so i thought id ask.

its because the piston on the slave is sticking... because of worn rubber seal, bad return spring.. etc etc etc just needs a rebuild...

ha man i have the same car same color and....yes same problem till this point....
idk what year ur car is but if you look under your car theres going to be like a lil damper block where all you clutch lines meet well on top of it theres gonna be an extra one bleed that one and you should get good pressure....
what i used to bleed my car without two people is a water bottle what did was i made a hole in the lid and put any kinda car hosethrew the lid and put it on the nozzle and open the nozzle and bleed you car pump it 5 times then refill ur MC and them pump it 5 more times and re fill do this two more times dont take of the hose untill you have tighen your nozzle!

it worked for me ....but it my clutch losse pressure after a couple of weeks so i know its getting air from somewhere i think i need to replaced that nozzle!
