Recommend me a brake master cylinder

My brake master cylinder is leaking. I need to replace it. Throw out your recommendations for what you think would be good.

Car specs are as follows:

S13 with JDM 180SX front calipers (95 Altima calipers) and stock rear calipers. All hardware are stock.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running the Z32 MC on my 26mm Z32 fronts/stock rears, and I love it. Good feel, still good modulation, and of course the power

When you finnaly descide to get the Z32 Master Cylinder... get the Nabco... not the Tokiko... dont order it from Nissan (they will send a Tokiko every time).
There is several shops on e-bay that have the true Nabco 1 - 1/16 MC... i'm not a big ebayer but this saved me alot of BS with Nissan USA.

Peace
Drew

S14 automatic transmission brake MC is 15/16 I believe. Which is a good midway point between the Z MC which is 17/16. some people say is too stiff.

too stiff?!?! haha you mean too GOOD.

who the hell wants a nice SOFT pedal? buy a cadillac if thats the case.

Z32 MC is perfect, IF you have Z32 **F&R** brakes (or better).

Oh hell yea, I did the conversion with the stock MC and was going to wait til I got paid to get the Z32 MC

Next day I was at Napa with the credit card, lol. Made all the difference in the world, and I was only using a 1", because thats what they had, not 1 1/16" Works fucking phenominal.

g6civcx, I bet your brakes are stiff as shit, awesome isn't it.

I used my stock bmc with q45 calipers. The most I would go with is the 15/16 bmc.

how big is the piston(s) on that 180sx caliper? i think the z32 MC is a bad idea, it'll be an on/off switch. modulation will be next to impossible and it will take a lot of effort to stop the car. go with the 15/16ths MC like redsuns suggested.

15/16 is what I found after tons of research. I have the exact setup as you (180sx front/stock rears)

Thread is here: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=129909 (premie only forum - sorry guys) and my findings were here: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showpost.php...3&postcount=26

"15/16" Master Cylinder

'86 Z31 Turbo MC part number is: 46010-18F20
'86 200SX MC part number: 46010-18F20

Autozone = Fenco M52060 $27 (w/ core)
Advance Auto Parts = Cardone 112060 ($37 w/core

Port locations on the 200sx and 240sx BMCs look identical (from pics) I'll be doing this upgrade when I finish re-doing my brakes. I'll try to remember to give an update on what happens."

It was recommended to me to NOT get the Z32 due to only having the 180sx fronts + stock rears. I hope I'm right...the brake bias is the same as stock 240sx. If anyone sees anything wrong with this, PLEASE let me know. I'll be buying this MC pretty soon and will update you guys.

Pm me if you want to buy one. It is used. I decided not to install the one that I have. Let me check which one I have, Nabco or Tokico. It is 17/16 though. I'll post pics later today.

Thanks for all the comments.

The piston size on the 180SX caliper is the same as the 95 Maxima/Altima. They look to be marginally larger than the stock S13 piston.

i don't think many people on here know how big a maxima caliper is. if it's a single piston, just go with the 15/16ths.

What did you decide on?

I bought the 200sx Turbo BMC yesterday, took mine off today and compared them. They are identical and the reman. Fenco one is actually a Nissan tokico 15/16 (as stated)...lifetime warranty incase this reman. one is shitty.

I'll be installing within the next few days + hopefully get around the bleeding the brakes.

Just go to Auto Zone get a re-manufactured one either stock or 300zx if you have larger calipers, then your good and its cheap and has warranty

I need to replace my booster as well so I'm considering the Z32 booster. I'm just not sure if the Z32 booster requires cutting of the fender because the stock S13 booster sit very close.

Right now it would be nice if somebody made a kit to replace all the hardlines from the BMC to the calipers.

Your hardlines are crimped? I've never seen that happen on a 240, weird... Anyway, the reason why theres no kits out is because it's fairly simple (note: relative term) to make new hardlines. The lines/fittings themselves are cheap, the tools are rent-able (bender and flare tool), and its fairly difficult to mess up. If you need new hardlines I'd grab em out of a junkyard car though, just so they'll match up to the mounting tabs.

Just keep in mind that this a 16-17 year old car that has never had the hardlines removed before. I did my clutch line and the fittings were stripped/rusted beyond belief. I had to cut the line off and use a deep-well 6-point socket with a 3 feet breaker bar.

I know the lines are easy to make; I just don't have the time or facility to make them correctly. I generally use Taka Motorsports for all my braided line needs so I'm sure he can whip something up for me.

Z32 BMC on S13 fits fine. No clearance issue. I have one for sale if you want. For the lines, you should use a crows foot wrench/ brake line wrench. Use some Freeze Off if the rust is that bad.

I finished installing the 15/16 last weekend (even though I've had 2 lines leaking, fixed one with teflon tape and haven't fixed the other one yet). Pedal has a stock feel to it, but my brakes feel MUCH better and predictable now. I had an odd problem though: I had a vac. leak where the BMC mounts to the b-booster. I put some ultra-black RTV on there, and it's just fine now.

Though, I also changed front pads, installed rear SS lines (+already have front SS lines installed), rear rotors, rear pads, and Valvoline Synthetic brake fluid.

To give closure to this thread, I went with a rebuilt S13 manual non-ABS booster, Z32 17/16 master cylinder, and custom braided lines from master cylinder to rubber hoses.

Custom braided lines from the MC to rubber hoses? Why not braided all the way? What rubber hoses?

Be sure to report back how the car feels for complete closure

The fabrication shop made custom lines that go from the master and meet up with the factory rubber hoses. I didn't want them to mess with the rubber hoses because I can get aftermarket kits to replace the rubber hoses.

I will install braided hoses along with bigger brakes when I do the 5-lug.

Ah, ok. Wont that be a weak point in your brakes for the time being though? (the rubber hoses)

Yes, but they've always been the weak point in the brakes. The stock hardlines are no worse than the braided lines.

It'll be good soon though.

I don't know what the deal is, but I ordered from FR Sport. It came in a Tokico box, but has the necessary fitting. Everybody says Nabco is the one to get, but FR Sport has the right one and that's all I care about.

Just save yourself the drama and order from them: http://www.frsport.com/Tokico_Nissan...2__p_1308.html
