Car stalls and not from dropping clutch.

Well for sure i know its not the starter. Earlier this morning i was gonna take it to the shop to get the alternator checked out when on the way there i was in third coasting at around 45 and the rpms drop to zero so i get into a left turn lane to clutch in and start it again. It cranks and cranks and it feels like the battery is loosing power. Well lucky for me my dad is in the back of me in his car he jumps out and helps me push it into this side street by a church and community. I didn't let off the clutch when i was at 45 and i didn't stall out. I hope it isn't a really bad electrical issue.

Well first check for fuel make sure your fuel pump/injectors working(pull out the plugs and turn it over to check if fuels making it in the cylinders or take a screwdriver put the tip of it on the injector and put ur ear on the top and have some one turn it over and listen for a ticking sound)
Then check the plugs pullem out with em still in the plug wires crank it over and check for spark (dont forget to ground it).
if ya wanna check ur alt easy way is to have a voltmeter put it on the battery (if you can get it started) and check if you got around 14volts or while its runnin disconnect the battery if it dies u got a bad alt.

I know the alternator is bad cause i disconnect both leads from the battery when started and it died. Later on we checked my dad's acura and saw if that was the right test for the alternator and when we disconnected both his acura was still running.

This is by far one of the worst things you can do to your alternator. If anything you managed to pop a diode in your dad's acura. If you're really worried about the alternator not working take it to autozone and have them test it for you.

I've taken out my battery while engine was running like 50 times on my S13 and probably a few times on every other old car I have owned. Their alternators are still fine.

If you are are scared of "popping diodes" just put a multimeter on the positive lead from the altenator and see if the voltage goes up as you revv. No need to rely on the jackasses at autozone.

Might want to check out your engine temp sensor. My car was doing the same thing earlier this week. Turns out I knocked the bugger loose while I was changing oil.

Car DUMPS fuel into the chambers without that sensor, floods it out pretty quick, causes surging, stalling, and backfiring. Not to mention it won't want to start. Amazed me at how that one little plug could kill so much stuff.

Unless you know for sure that you're fuel pump is bad, then try the following first before you replace your fuel pump.

-Check your vacuum lines
-Change your fuel filter
-check your fuel pressure regulator
-check your ECU & fuel pump relays
-check your air filter
-check your spark plugs, spark plug wires, along with your distributor cap & rotor
-check your timing & idle, (you'll need a Factory service manual for this).

If your stalling problem is not due to a vacuum leak, then chances are it could be due to an engine in need of a tune up. While you're doing the tune up, check your Engine Coolant Temperature sensor & wires along with cleaning out your throttle body with Carb cleaner / Throttle body cleaner. Checking & cleaning those items usually help with idle & engine performance.

Anyhow, hope this helps.

Going to look at the firing order on Christmas morning. Could this be an IACV problem.
