Proper backspacing for 17"x9" f and r

Could someone tell me what would be the proper backspacing for a 4 lug 17x9 rim if i were to put them on my s13? I dont have access to the car for a few days and will not be able to take wheels off and measure everything..

Im looking at these 5 spoke alloys from summit that come in 4 lug

any help will be greatly appreciated!!

thanks,
Eric

It all depends on how much work you want to put into your car...

Because as I see it, you just asked an open ended question.

There are many factors of to which offset you choose.

1. Fenders rolled or not.

2. Fenders pulled or not.

3. Type of aero you are/plan on running if any.

4. Personal taste.

5. Beating in fender wells.

I'm sure if you search some pic threads you'll find what you're looking for.

well I already am puting on some 30mm wide fenders, I will be using the stock '90 aero with lip, the rear aero I will be doing either stock or lip. but for the rear quarters I will be doing 50mm wide, but untill then I will cut out the fender and weld on fender flares im pretty sure im going to be using 17"x9" all around.

i will be changing the suspension and adding adjustable ruca and front controll arms...
this is not a complete list of whats planned, but im doing everthing suspension to be adjustable...

4lug sizing sucks.

It's also pointless to run widebody if you are going to run only 17x9 in the rear.

With wide body you could run something like 17x9 0 / 17x10.5 -25

But again, it all depends...

Because I know you won't find wheels like that on summit racing.

There is no, "magic size" All depends on personal taste and willingness to put in work.

actually ya... 17x10.5 -25 is not offered through summit, but they do have a few different 17 4 lug sizes

but i will probably end up doing a 5 lug conversion in the rear just to stick on some fatter wheels, cause i cant really find anything thicker than 9" in 4 lug

No such thing as proper, but...

If you had over fenders front and rear, I'd shoot for offsets around:

17x9+5
18x10+5

Just do a 5 lug conversion all around and thank yourself later.

Or do it the right way,

Step 1 , get the wheels you want.
Step 2, make them fit via spacers/fenders/roll/pull/camber.
