Who makes aftermarket ones? What choices are avilable? What comes stock in the S14's?

Well thats just gay. R&P gears are the cheapest bang for the buck. At least they were the cheapest mod for any domestic I've ever owned.

Whats the stock ratio? Is it a pretty short gear?

That's because Mustangs come with what...a 2.73 rear end!?!?!

Stock 240SX (all years) is 4.08...hell, call it a four-ten gear...about as short as you'd want to go.

What's your goal with the car???

4.08 sucks.

4.3 is baller city.

4.6 you need an SR with a 9k revlimit

4.8 and 5.13 you need a 12k revlimit and 250n/a HP.

Nismo sells 3.6 through 4.6 that came out of various R200 cars, E-SR sells the 4.8 and 5.13 from the old 4speed datsuns.

Technically, that's incorrect. Nismo Japan does not produce ring/pinion sets, they're OE parts sourced through Nissan Motorsports US, but since Nismo parts are now available here they're mixed in under one name brand through dealers.

well yeah, no-one actually makes their own ring gears.

J's Racing ring gears are Mazda gears
E*SR ring gears are old datsun ring gears.
Nismo/Nissan Motorsports ring gears all come out of the Frontier/CA18DET/CA18DE cars and such.
