s13 stretch tires longevity?

if the tires are stretched, would it make them run/ become bald faster if they weren't?

my tires (fuzion zri) weren't even a big stretch and it probably only lasted me 4000 miles (bought it brand new). i was surprised to see them gone...like butter on a hot plate on the REARS only. the front is still looking good, i have never gone drifting in this tire or auto-x with them...just driven daily and a couple of aggressive turns every now and then without sliding.

my alignment are up to factory spec and this was only driven daily..more like driven on the weekends.

When was the last time you got an alignment?

You're supposed to ROTATE tires too, but it sounds like you didn't even last to the rotational period of a tires life.

Recheck your alignment, toe sounds like the problem.

eh... It really depends on the type of driving that you were doing
as for a defective tire none of the major tire companys have millage
warrenties on "sports tires"

i make sure my alignment is up to spec almostl, at least once a month, and also after i autox or do any "spirited driving"...this is just my first time having stretched tires and wondering if that affects it...

i have a lifetime alignment where the guy who does my alignment do it to my specs...toe is basically always adjusted to stock range.

oh and as far as driving it's usually freeway driving (mostly 70 and 85 every now and then)...i just take turns aggressively on freeway on ramps

the tires have not seen any "spirited" driving since its practically too dangerous and slippery (winter, ice, blah blah)on the roads that i go to.

make sure the toe is in check; as in this is the real reason why tire wear occurs. camber has adds to the wear to a lesser extent

you went drifting....and forgot. (how do i quote that in my sig?)

My tires usually last the same but that is EXTREME use. Unless "you went drifting and forgot" your toe must be crazy whacked.

Most all season tires. I've never had a sports or high performance tire last more than 10K, but that's with track and autocross usage as well. Anything with a treadwear of 200 or less isn't going to last 20K miles no matter what you do.

I'd agree with the alignment checking, the rear toe has got to out or you're driving heavily under inflated.

camber is too high for the rear IMO, but thats not what is killing your tires.

Why not go with 0 toe rear?

could it just really be that the tires were defective? i've had the same alignment spec on all my 240's that was auto-xed and been thru continuous aggressive driving and never dealt with tire probs. like this. it was the first time i bought the zri's and it will be the last..

i doubt it's the tires itself, i guess it could be,

they should make them in batches, so in that sense, a whole batch of them would be defective,...

i think there was an article on yokohamas having tires wear out much faster than expected when it was used on the nsx when it first came out a long time ago...

Your toe is in at 1? That might be your problem. Try setting it to zero.

also, do you have an lsd? Lsd wears out your tires a little bit faster too.

... but not 4000 miles faster...

unless your 1 = 1 inch, then that would be bad

Uhhh....how many people said camber doesn't kill tires? Might wanna think about that some more. Especially in the rear. Only effects one side of the tire though.

Side note.....Fuzions arent the cream of the crop, but they should last longer than that. If the wear is uniform across the tire, you can chalk it up to the cheaper Bridgestone hoops. But if the wear is to a side, then you def. have a align. spec to blame.

You're running 1 SOLID degree of toe?

That's probably the problem. CAMBER DOESN'T KILL TIRES, TOE DOES.

Camber causes UNEVEN tire wear. Not accelerated tire wear.

My alignment as of late was:

Front:
.-05* toe out
-.2.5* camber
+8* caster

Rear:
0 toe
-3* camber

1 degree of toe is NOT close to zero, that's ALOT.

he's right

also toe on 240's is generally measured in inches by most alignement machines. and 1 inch of toe is retarded out of spec. i have a bent arm on my left rear that's causing my camber to be a degree off from the right side with the eccentric bolt maxed (-2.9* vs -1.8*) and my toe is stuck at -1.5. and it SHOWS when i go drifting. the wear is so bad that i can bring a third tire for the left and the right side tire wil actually outlast both left tires.
