S13 headlight coversion pics

Has anybody kept the stock flip ups on their S13 but modified them by using fogs or something else smaller/more powerful as headlights? I like the look of the flip ups, but hate how they look fully open. I was thinking of picking up a set of PIAA HID fogs that are rectangular and just having the lights flip up a little bit, lazy eye style when they are open.

Im sure people have done it, I just want to see pics. Also, if you have any recommendations that would be cool too. If youre using fogs as your headlights, how is the lighting compared to stock? Any loss of visibility?

fog lights taking the plcae of the headlights isnt a good idea. Unless the car is just for track only. fog lights wouldnt put out enough light for driving at night. that my 2 cents even tho it looks good.

search for supermade instant gentlemen,

it's also on the groupbuy or advertiser section

sure, it's not exactly using flip ups, but it's close, and looks cool as hell

If you relocate the pivot point closer in on the headlight motor, and shorten the connecting rod, you can permantly shorten the height of the headlight in the up position without using a pivot controller. I think there's a similar thread on supraforums where someone did this, and it looked good. He used PIAA driving lights as highbeams and PIAA fogs as lowbeams.

^That's exactly what I want to do... I was just hoping for some pics and recommedations as to what lamps to use. PIAA makes nice driving lights that I think would work well as headlight replacements.

I definitely want to keep the flip ups though, those supermades look rad, but my exterior is completely stock otherwise, so itd look kinda dumb.

yup i had hella 90mm unit for both low and high. but to save some money you can just use any cheap fog light for high and quality for low as that's what you need the most.

Here's some pictures of what I did a while ago. S14 projectors in the flip ups. Pretty good lighting.

irax, I'm not bashing anything. I just want to make sure people understand that what they are doing could have Legal Consequences.

Running an SR or no cat can only be known after you are pulled over and you vehicle is searched. Illegal lighting is out in the open for all to see. Something to think about.

I did some searching on the supra mod, and discovered that the lowbeams used on the supra were Chevrolet Camaro lowbeams, with some kind of OEM projector for the highbeams. Since then however, I think the thread was deleted because most of the people were like "How about making your supra put out 800hp and show some 1/4 mile times before doing ricey stuff."
I forgot how supraforums has more tools than Sears.....

race on,.. hahha

seems like all they do is sell knock offs...

so i guess race on does sell it, but it may or may not crack/break/crumble/deteriorate/decompose... who knows

but they do come with an option of super bright lights, $$$, look at the groupbuy/advert section

Go with the hella 90mm units and do what Yuri said. It won't be that hard, just take some time and patience. The hella units will also give you much better lighting than fogs/driving lights, and much better than stock. It's like $200 for a set of lows and a set of highs through www.rallylights.com

Beacuse "DOT lightting bullshit issues" keep retards from using inadequate light sources at night, increasing the chances of causing damage to their cars, themselves, or others...
