S13 turbo timer issue
I have a Blitz DTTX timer in my S13. I noticed that when the unit is timing the engine down, the key wont come out! Something is preventing it from being removed while the engine is still running. Never had an issue this with my old SE-R. I understand why this happens, but what can be done to make it so I can remove my key while the engine is timing down?

very weird... so you turn the key to 'off', and press the key release button, but it wont come out? Did you install the turbo timer? If not, check for a wire coming from the turbo timer to the ignition cylinder... I dont think theres any electrical control over the key cylinder though (IIRC it's all mechanical as far as letting the key go). I can't think of any other reason

Correct, it wont let the key release as long as the engine is running. As soon as the timer shuts the engine off, I can press the button and it will let the key release like normal. The only thing the timer is doing at this point is exactly that, just being a timer. I have to sit and wait, kinda defeats the purpose. There has to be someone out there who has had this happen to them and someone who found a solution. I dont know what to do. Wierd.

possibility
was the car originally automatic? because automatic steering columns have a sensor that checks if the car is in park before allowing the button to be pushed. Im not sure if that could even apply to your situation but its something to consider. I have had that problem when i do 5 speed swaps, i couldnt push the button down to get the key out. All you have to do is disconnect the plug on the steering column harness and ur good.
