Drift Button

THIS IS NOT A WANT TO BUY. (If you do have one for sale though, and you're local, I'll buy it.)

I am getting a new car soon, and I'm in the process of swapping stuff over, but I don't know about one thing.

The DRIFT BUTTON.

I haven't tried yet, but I don't really think there is an easy way of getting that spring to return to the top of the ebrake, I'm not sure.

Plus the next buyer I'm sure would appreciate having a drift button, but all the prices I've seen are ridiculous.

Does anyone know where the drift buttons are for like $5? I need it for S13.

Online shops, or just retail stores, whatever, I just don't want to fork over $30, for one.

all you have to do to get the spring back up is compress the spring with a screw driver and then push the tabs back in. reverse the install steps like whoa.

Every time I have used one of those CNC's buttons, they fail in about 2 days. The rubber boot for the ebrake wears and they dont stay down. Last time, i had it pop and lock mid turn. Good times...

I pulled the whole spring lock assembly out, and just park in gear. No more worries. Or get that K sport ebrake, that looks hot.... oh wait, you dont want to spend ANY money.

uhhh, thats because the drift knob is supposed to be jammed onto the ebrake button, not wedged inside the boot

i used a penny inside the boot to hold the button down. Its been in there for almost a year now. Nothings worn out and it has never popped out. Annnnnnnnd it cost a penny. Over-engineering FTL.

Yes, obviously you jam it onto the button. So, what mechanics hold it down?

Hey asshole, you don't know me, I'm trying to SELL a car. I don't want to KEEP the car, and I want it to be presentable, so don't come at me with this YOU'RE BEING CHEAP bullshit.

I was simply asking if anyone knows where to obtain a CHEAP button to replace my nice one that I'm putting on my NEW car.

I don't cheap out on my car, I like to spend my money wisely because I'm still attending school, I don't have a full time job, nor do I have tons of money to spend on a car worth 2K to everyone else in the world.

I just bought a nice drift button. Had my issues with it falling off too. But one must be smarter than the button! All i did was drill and tap a 10-32 hole in the button and then i took off the plastic piece on the end of the e-brake linkage and put a corresponding die on the end of that and viola! Screw on drift button! Total it cost my like $30 bucks or so. I wouldn't want to put a cheap drift button on my car especially if it had trouble popping off. Might look kinda bad if during a "test" drive it pops off or locks up on the car. Goodbye sale. =\ But yeah it is the little things that are done right that make a car worth buying. =)

if you dont mind the ghetto way and dont wanna drill any holes, try this
i bought a tube of instant crazy glue and its a snug fit on the button. you just take the cover of the glue, and throw away the glue, or if you want to be cool like me, you can use it to glue your fingers together

then you slip it on the button, and boom!!! your tube of instant crazy glue turns into a instant drift knob!!!

of course you can peel the sticker off and paint it or put your favorite pokemon sticker on, and cutting it shorter would'nt be such a bad idea...

all this is done being that you already bent the tabs that hold the spring...

i just used a rubber bypass cap that was snug and fitted around the ebrake handle and held the button in at all times....then when ur not drifting, take it off and it was like u never fukd around with the ebrake at all!! it worked better than my frens "drift knob"....cuz sumtimes itll slid out and lock his brakes and he wudnt be able to put it down on time=spin out!! its inexpensive and looks pretty damn good too!

I am speaking of it not working in the sense that the OD of the button does not stay snug against the ID of the boot, allowing it to pop out and lock the hand brake at random.

http://www.ksportusa.com/products/ebrake.html

That is what i was speaking of, its $250. Alot more than $5. Dont take such easy offense to things.

$250 for an ebrake is ridiculous, IMO, drift button works fine for me.

But I'm sure if I had an incident like yours I would regret drift button too.
