![]() What can I do to get more Rpm out of my KA24DE, somewhere around 7.5 to 8k Rpm. Is there a down fall to more Rpm, rough idle, loss of power during lower Rpm band?

the only real way to safely do this would be to upgrade your valve train, aka your valve springs and retainers, and get some cams

I/H/E then Cams. Need to increase the VE on the KA to allow it to breath at higher RPMs.

Im in the process of rebuilding my engine, with Supertech pistons, valves, springs and retainers. But I didnt think that was gonna increase my rpm. Which cams are there to choose from or which do you recomend?

Cams should be matched to your compression ratio and desired powerband.
Ballancing the engine is probably going to be your largest aid to high rpm redline. The springs and retainers, allow the valve to "bounce back" faster and more resiliently to follow the profile of the cam, other wise, over said rpm, the valve will simply "stay down". (IE: Float).

8.1 Compression Ratio and Im going for about 400-450 HP. The guy whos helping me rebuild my engine says if we do it all right we can get it at only 12-15 pounds of boost

IDK about the lift figure, because i only go off of millimeters. That cam does sound good for the Exhaust.
I think a 270ish cam on the intake might be too aggressive and really hurt your spool times. btw, if that is .39inch lift, that seems a little low, for that high a duration cam. But for the most part i only operate in SR20 Candy land, so i have no clue on cam profiles and choices for the KA.

Each part should state outright that it is for a KA.
There is a forum member that is pretty good with KA builds here, his name is RUSS and goes by R240NA (screen name), get in touch with him.

go to turbo240.com and check their cams out.... and.or jimwolftechnology.com those are my two main sources of ka-t parts.
Have you done anything to the bottom end?? like lighter crankshaft, etc... that helps with acceleration,, and idk about going for higher revs, thats why ppl switch to sr's.. i would just recommend staying under 7500.

Found NO cams on turbo240 and only 1 cam on JWT. Is there really NO cams for the KA24DE?

PDM racing has cams
"PDM Stage II DOHC Turbo Cams – Now PDM offers a performance Turbo grind for those turboing your KA motor. Excellent profile for turbocharged KA street motor. These cams have higher lifts and durations with smooth idle good mid range, and wild upper end hp to redline. For those that want more from your torquey turbo KA. Good for hybrid T3/T4 turbos with boost levels up to 15-18 psi. Exhaust cams have been optimized and ground to help spool up the turbo faster, and reduce lag. C.702.T STAGE II DOHC Turbo Cams – Intake 221 duration @.050”, .380 lift Exhaust 221 duration @.050” .380 lift C.702.S Stage II Cams - Intake 221 duration @.050” .379 lift; (272 advertised duration), .380 lift; Exhaust 231 duration @ .050" lift, (278 advertised duration), .390 lift. These cams are VERY streetable, with no injector or computer upgrades required, and pass the strictest emissions with proper tuning."

so, i would use the PDM 272 cam intake, and the JWT 275 Exhaust.

Also, why use PDM's NA cam instead of their turbo cam?

In reguards to SR, have had much better luck using a staggered setup with mid map boost levels, and pump gas. So... since he said "street car" staggered seems to be the way to go.
The staggered cam setup promotes better spool, though it caps efficiency at higher boost, the cam overlap cools the exhaust, turbo alot too.
