There is a tiny speing or piece of metal fitted into the pad that starts to contact the rotor when the pad is almost gone. This is called a wear indicator. It starts squeaking to let you know you need new pads. You have about 3,000 miles to replace the pads or your screwed

that's not true... at least, not in my experience. the wear indicator makes a horrible scraping noise, seeing as to how it's a piece of metal dragging along your rotor... the squeaking could be wear, could be brake dust. could be something i don't know. welcome to the wonderful world of disc brakes, kid.
get yourself a can of Brakleen and hose em down. that'll probably do the trick.

This is correct. The wear indicator WILL squeal. That is if you are lucky. If you have some cheap ass pads, inspect them once in a while. The old pads I had were cheap and the wear indicator broke off, so I didn't know I needed new pads. Well, I wore into my rotor. So I had to replace them. (good reason to upgrade to Brembo cross drilled )

i have the same problem. i replaced them about 4 months ago and ever since then ive been hearing the damn squeel. i even used the grease stuff thats suppose to stop the noise. that didnt work. im going to get a can of brake cleaner and do what you say and hose them down.
