eBay Special s13 flip-up's w/ built in H4 projector. any good?

I've searched for quite a bit and I've seen many guys on here who have retro fitted a projector into the s13 flip-up assembly but I havent seen any members with these or even a mention of these. My buddy gave me a heads up that these are just a round projector style lense and dont have the "half plate" inside for a clean laser cut. Anyone have any experience or own a set?

I got a set, dont expect anytype of clean laser cut. The light pretty much flares, big improvment over stock though,

HIDs? no, Im using the shitty H4 bulbs they came with. They satisfy me for the price I paid, but I dont care too much for lighting detail. I just wanted something a little brighter and with bluish hue.

If you want a high-end setup I'd reccomend http://www.clearcorners.com/products/nissan/240sx1/

They arent meant for HIDs though, if you plan on putting HID bulbs in those housing it definitly wont have a nice cutoff.

If you have those you could always do a retrofit of a HID projector from another car. My friend did it to his Integra, the cutoff is gorgeous and the light spread is near perfect. I think the projector was off of a TSX or something like that. He wanted s2000 projectors but they were too deep for the room he had so if you go down that road make sure to look up measurements and do lots of research.

i was hoping that these were an alternitave to the standard H4 housing (ex. hella, ebay special) because the fact that HIDs in a standard H6054 housing will blind the living shit out of everyone in front of me =/

they are ok... but the fact that the light doesnt reflect back into the housing to light up the road more is what bugs me.. i went and bought an actual real conversion set.. a lil more pricey but its a lot better at night.. 50 bucks for each housing... and thats not including the lights... oh well... cant put a price on safety

I had Taiwanese H4 housings with ghetto bulbs in them at first, but i switched to BOSH H4 housings and it made a world of difference.

You will notice a huge difference, though, if you are going from stock to the cheap H4 housings. I say they are worth your money because you can always put some HID's in there down the road.

Those housings suck. Its not a projector, just a lense they put in front of the blub. The light escapes aroud the lense so its no use. If everything else was covered and all the light was focused out the lense then maybe it would of worked. My friend had a set with hids i installed for him on his mr2. There is no laser cut, that projector is just for looks and it looks horrible in my opinion. I have pictures on my computer somewhere and i will post them if i can find them.

Edit:

I know its a bad picture to show the cut off but its all i had and you can already see there is no laser cut off.

The regular ebay specials are weak too. All made of plastic, it looks ok when install cuz it looks like clear glass but light output isnt all that great either. My friend bought like 3 sets cause they were so cheap to try them all out. He also has the ones with the "angel eyes".

Yeah, those housings bring aura borealis to the steet. Only benefit those have over stock is that you're able to change just the bulb instead of the whole housing.

Side note. I think I've driven with that aw11 guy before...

Hella H4 housing/bulb and close that eBay auction.

Unless you retrofit TSX projectors (Not my car)

HID just doesn't seem to work with pop up housings... IMO

Search... or matter fact check this thread out.. Link read the last 3 or 4 pages....

I don't think you can ever take a square housing like the S13 pop up has and put a circle in it and make it look good (while unlit)

Only time circles are good are either rectangle fog + projector

or

Dual projectors

but then you gotta make it only pop up half way

The cutoff on the post 2 above is clean though
