Just got my generic ss shifter- problem?

1st- there is a little white bushing on the VERY BOTTOM of the shifter(part that goes in tranny) It is split on opposite sides.. Is it MEANT to be like that to fit on the metal shifter, or is it damaged/bad?

2nd- the shifter feels kinda "loose". I can hold the plate and move it side to side. The shifter moves quite a bit when doing this... Is that normal or are the little springs in the shifter crappy/too weak?

thanks!- BTW- this is the B M replica that a few of you recomended from deluboz parts....

oh i got that SS too. the base is black rite? just use the bushing from the stock shifter, otherwise the bushing that comes with it is tooo big.
about that "loose" feeling, dont worry. just install it. u will love the feel over stock. i know i love mine

Mine felt a lot stiffer than the stock one when I installed it. Felt loose when it was out. After about a week of driving it became more smooth to shift though.

thanks guys. I just used the bushing that came with it..

I just dropped the tranny down by the crossmember and everyting went fine. the front bolts are easier to re-thread from under the car for anyone who does it in the future.

It IS much stiffer and feels more precise... However grinding third gear happens easier and more often now... I guess i just need patience when going into that gear...lol,.

thanks guys...
