Can someone provide me with proper instructions on how to remove the stock stereo out of my 1997 240SX? It's just the regular tape deck stereo not the CD verision.

I know how to on the S13, but no s14

On the S13 you stick a flat head screw driver under the plastic peice that goes around the stereo. Say b/w the part where the dash meets the plastic (the best place I've found is at the bottom of that peice behind the shifter.  B/w the plastic peice, and the center console.), and pry up. The plastic peice is help on by some little metal snaps (6). It will pop loose. Once you get that off, there are four screws you have to take out. One on either side of the radio, and two below the Tray under the radio. Remove those and the radio and tray come out together. Once you have it out, unplug the harness, and antena, and Tada. Radio out.

top half of surround (with the vents) is snapped in place. IIRC 2 clips on top and 2 clips on bottom. all you can do is carefully pull the panel straight out from dash.
next, remove shifter surround (with boot). it is also snapped in place. 2 clips each side, 2 clips up front. again, all you can do is carefully pry it up.
the radio panel is held in by 4 screws IIRC, 2 top, 2 bottom. should be straight forward from there!

this is probably the oldest bump I have ever seen... wow... but to answer your question it is in the truck under the rear speakers.
