universal power door locks

hey guys i just bought the universal kit from autoloc. i followed the neccessary rules to try and make it work but when i try to connect the rod they give me with the factory rod its hard. cause in the picture the factory rod is straight but the 240sx rod is in a diagonal line which is hard to connect. i can bend it but in the picture it says that both ends should be straight and only the middle can be bent but the end has to be bent in order for the rods to connect perfectly. also i don't know a good spot to put the actuator? does anyone know how to do this?

thanks alot

Basically, you just have to mount the actuator diagonally so that it is parallel to the factory rod. When you remove the door panel and the plastic weather-proofing, there should be a hole in the metal where you can see the window (when the window is rolled down). I mounted the Mounting strap diagonally across this whole, which allowed it to line up with the factory rod. If this is unclear, I will try to post pictures Sunday night (I am not in town right now).

Sorry it took so long for the pic, and sorry its a lil blurry, my camera sux.

So yea, like I said, just mount it diagonally inside that hole, then clamp it to the top diagonal rod. That will do the trick. Goodluck with it man.

considering it all worked fine until you hid everything, I am going to assume some wires are now shorting a circuit, ie something shook loose when it got moved around. How did you make your connections? solder, crimp, just twisting, etc? How did you insulate your connections? heatshrink, tape, etc? The more you can share, the more we can help.

^^ Skylinekin, I like to use DEI products. You can pick up a Valet 512T keyless entry on ebay for about $60 shipped. This is a nice system that is a very straight forward install. DEI doorlock actuators are about 18 each shipped on ebay. Fun project, shouldnt take longer than 3 hours for a beginner by yourself.
