Quick crank pulley question.

I e-mailed two guys about I guess "generic" brand lite weight crank pulleys. I asked them if they came with timing marks. And one guy said yes his does and that it is visible in the picture.....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...DME:L:RTQ:US:1 which I really don't see any...

And the other guy said that his does not and that you need to line it up with the old one and mark it with a grease pen....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=160091258400
So I dunno if I should jump on one of these or not. Or just save up. Opinions please

Just buy a legit one from Unorthodox Racing or ASP. I always think twice about e-bay!

The second pulley is a UR replica. It is the exact same as far as size and design. The only thing is no timing marks. And yes I bought this one recently and just lined up my OEM pulley and used a sharpie to mark the new one. Then just get your dremel or thin file and make some slots.

Really easy. Pulley has been instlled for 2 weeks now and no problems, I've noticed higher levels of shift vibration that I'm sure is from the lack of the stock rubber dampener in the OEM pulley. But you get used to it. Relly not that bad.

Just make sure to change your front seal when you install the new pulley.

GL

oh also before you ask: THE ENGINE IS INTERNALLY BALANCED SO THERE'S IS NO HARMONIC BALANCER. REMOVING THE STOCK PULLEY WILL NOT HARM THE CRANK. This has been viewed and discussed more than the Pamela/Tommy Lee video. There you've been told.

Lol, that's a lotta times - I was actually going to post the same thing, because people always ask. Good to know the knockoff stuff works ok.

the crank pulley has a huge notch on it so it only goes on one way.

like dream said, if you buy a cheapo one, line it up with the old pulley using the notch and tap the corresponding timing marks into the pulley with a hammer and a screw driver or whatever. mad easy.

Get a UR pulley, the fake ebay ones have fitment issues on some of them, i had a few customers tell me that the hole was made too small and had no timing marks. Avoid the headaches and buy a UR. http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=4366

that is correct... i helped install a cheapo pulley and we had a slightly difficult time getting it on.

once we got it seated, we hammered the shit out of it with a rubber mallet and it eventually fit flush on the crank. aluminum shavings = yay.

not a big deal, but something to consider.

What I did on my ebay pulley to deal with the timing marks was line up the stock pulley and the ebay pulley using the center hole. Then I eyeballed the timing marks. Must have worked because when I did the s13 cam swap I had to retime the engine.
