SR How much more power will a GT28RS make on my setup?

I have a 1990 240sx with an S14 SR20DET. It had an S15 turbo in it until I blew it on saturday Manji drifting leaving thhe car wash. So I acquired a rebuilt GT28RS for $350. I have no choice but to buy this turbo for that price. I was making 340HP to the wheels at 18 lbs. of boost. I have 550cc injectors, Z32 MAF, Enthalpy tuned ECU, Megan manifold, BLitz LM intercooler, Koyo Radiator and an elctronic boost controller and turbo timer to make it all run smooth. Now my question is how much power can I expect to gain with the new turbo and how many lbs. of boost will I be able to safely run. Also, will my existing modifications do the job to make the power I want or will I need to do some more changes?? Thanks in advance for all the help.

You cant really rebuild a GT28RS so I would feel kinda nervous about that.... If you honestly managed 340whp you would be breaking records people have fought for years.

a GT28RS compared to a GT28R, you will gain about 20extra hp and lose about 20lbft of tq. 340whp with 550cc injectors is extremely dangerous. You must have been on a very generous dyno or are lying. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and not call you scum. A lot of things in this sure are fishy. You havent been licking salt water cat fish have ya? those things will f you up

No seriously. It was dyno'd in orlando. But I ran 18 lbs. on it everyday. I have no reason to lie. I think the turbo was just worn out after so much abuse. But the injectors were already in the car when I bought it so that may or may not be. Sorry...

Sounds like you picked up a ebay gt28rs since thats the same price they sell for on there.

340whp on a gt28r you sure about that? Did the person you bought it from tell you this stuff? Are did you take to the dyno urself?

First off, it's LIAR, not lyer. You dumb uneducated FUCK. Second, if you'd pay attention I was making 340 with an S15 turbo, not the GT28rs. I just blew the S15. And you have to replace the entire center housing on the Garret to rebuild it. Which I'm buying from a shop in Gainseville, FL. I just asked a serious question and all of ya'll lil internet punks are trying to call me a liar. Trying to pop a caps lock in my ass. Fuckers! And this comment is for everyone on this thread who dissed me. And thank you for those of you who tried to help.

ok but back up.

how much are they charging you for the "center" section?

its the center section right?

a true garrett bb CHRA is pricey man.

and you cannot "rebuild" it in the same way you can rebuild a journal bearing turbo.

wtf is "pop a caps lock in my ass?" back on point, lets not talk about somebodies grammar now esp. when, quote unquote, "First off, it's LIAR, not lyer. You dumb uneducated FUCK." grammarwise, a periods not necessary "smart guy"...

You are correct, but I just wanted to start a new sentence, that's all. But I apologize for losing my temper. That reference towards popping a capslock is meant to make fun of people who act all bad over the internet but are pussies for real. But back on track. I am buying the new turbo already finished. The shop owner had it done to put in a VW, but sold that car. Now, said potato has sat in the shop for a long time. Now it is up for sale for just 350. All I wanted to know is if I will make less or more or the same power. That is all.

I didn't misread. 340WHP on a GT28R... i dont believe that. Thats more like GT28RS(with cams) and GT2871R numbers, so your lying. You also can't rebuild them.

drifting out of a car wash... your silly little power slide in public areas makes you ricer and you shouldn't own a 240.

But to answer your question, your injectors should be enough for that turbo. With a 28RS, your looking at around 320 WHP without cams.

the gt28rs is very similar to the gt28r out of the s15. Now if its an ebay turbo, no telling how long she'll last, but it should make about the same power; give or take 15whp/tq, but you're definitely in the same ball park. Bolt it up and go have fun again.

Oh, and don't drift out of carwashes. If you're gonna wad up your shit, atleast do it when its dirty

GREAT advice, really adding something to the thread here...

340hp @ 18psi on an s15 turbo I will have to call BS, maybe you arent lying, but im sure the dyno was. To answer your question, ~320WHP @ 18psi with no cams seems to be common, with cams maybe 340whp. When I dyno next week i'll let you know (gt28rs with hks step 1 264's)

unless your running higher compression pistons on your sr (assuming its an sr) + cams on an s15 turbo you were probably not making 340hp, but if you really really were then kick ass 4 you!

17/18 psi on a 28RS with cams and a extrude stock manifold should get you in the 340-360 whp range...

At that powre level, your 550cc injectors are just about maxed out...you still have some room, but I'd say 350 whp about the limit of them.

Lowport SR, gt28rs, GTiR manifold, 40mm external gate, 50lb injectors, Cobra MAF, JWT tune, JWT S3 cams

does the gtir manafold work good on the rwd sr? all lines fit or do you need steel braided lines, for an s13 sr and a s15 turbo?
