r32 strut brace on s14
dunno if anyone will know this, but w\e
anyway will r32 front strut tower bar fit on an s14? i found one with a built in oil cooler and i would really like to have it for my rb. i know the r32 has 2 mounting holes on the shock tower and s14 has 3...but i could just redrill those in the correct spots. will the hood close right? i could just use hood raisers if it didnt close by just a few millimeters. is the strut too long or too short from shock tower to shock tower? thanks, chase

That looks pretty nutty.
No idea if it'd work though. I think it'd be a bit too tall.

That is awesome. I'm sure that it will work pretty well if it fits. Water-to-oil coolers usually do. Just dry-sump your engine so you don't need to run that weak stock filter location replacement piece.

Im more wondering how that will cool oil at all. Most oil coolers are like mini radiaters with fins and shit that looks like some sort of solid container so i dont see how it will cool anything especially since there is no air flow where that will mount. It also looks like it will make a pretty shitty strut bar as it looks like it would lose alot of rigidity with the oil cooler in the center of it.

Thats not an air to oil cooler, its a water to oil cooler. If you really have a 650HP RB do you really want to put more stress on your cooling system by adding a water to oil cooler? Doesn't seem like a good idea to me personally.

I have a Greddy radiator and a 12" electric fan on my 500whp GT-R and my temps don't exceed 90 C. If you can keep your engine oil temp at 90 C then you are doing good.

That unit is a water cooled heat exchanger. In the picture there are two fittings that are capped of in the front and back, this is where the water(coolant) is introduced and exchanged replacing the need for air flow. |

Just get dimensions and mock something up. Im sure there is a website or something for it. Maybe even buy a cheap ebay strut bar for a r32 and see if it bolts up. worth the 55 bucks or whatever it costs for piece of mind that that BADASS thing will work.
But on another note. Your car is god. Do you have a cardomain or something to look at it more? |

that would be awesome until you hit a speedbump at 10 mph and your chassis flexes and that thing splits and starts dumping oil all over
wait, it would never be awesome |

yeah that seems like the dumbest way to do that
why not just make a regular STB that has a water/oil cooler bolted onto it? or just have a normal air/oil cooler

Length from center of mounting ring to center of mounting ring is 36 1/4" When laying the strut bar on a flat surface the bottom of the oil cooler is 2" from the table. Top of oil cooler is 3 1/2" from the table. ![]() As you can see in the picture the oil cooler core can be separated from the rest of the bar. I think it would be easy to re-drill the mounting hole to accomodate your needs. Hope this helps |
