question about shipping body kits.

I need to ship a urethane bumper, either wrapped in bubble wrap/plastic or a custom made box if I have to. I know plenty of people have sent parts to me just wrapped up, but I'm not sure what shipping companies allow this. Anyone with experience know who I should go to? I plan on calling around tomorrow but I have a feeling they'll tell me to just use a box.

depends where you're shipping to/how fast you want it there. I wouldn't trust a bumper without a box, unless it was just a local courier that I could trust.

I worked in shipping, I was a shipping manager for a computer warehouse for 4 years. I had a LOT of daily contact with Fed Ex, UPS, DHL, and freight truck drivers. Some of the workers at the warehouse had also previously worked for those shipping companies. I learned something from my 4 years there...When you pack something for shipping, you pack it as safe as you POSSIBLY can even if it seems like overkill. You would not believe what happened to even some of our most safest packed boxes. It just disgusted me, the condition some of our boxes had been handled in.

Even if you're friends with the drivers and they make sure not to throw around your boxes, the loaders and unloaders at the bases honestly don't give a shit. I heard stories from previous base workers about guys who would use their job as an excuse to relieve their stress, and guys who just didn't care when they handled stuff. Anything can happen, and I'd honestly want to pack everything as well as possible, instead of having that one random thing arrive doa. Especially, with a bumper I'd like to be safer than sorry.
