i am putting a tranny from a 93 in my 89 so considering that what im doing is the opposite of what you want to do, i will make an educated guess of yes.

I'm not sure of the differences between thouse two exactly but I asked this question recently myself and there are wireing differences between trannys.  So, you'll prolly have to look for yourself to find out for sure.  Physically, they sould be exactly the same though.  So if you get the wireing stuff sorted out, your golden.
