There's two ways to do this, depending on how worn your bushing is.  One is to fill the opening with grease and ram a dowel into it, and the grease pushes the pilot bushing out.  It never worked for me.

There's a tool you can get that is a slide-hammer with two hooks on the end.  When I did mine, I couldn't get both hooks engaged, so I had to pry evenly around very carefully so as not to ram the bushing into the sides of the housing.

You can rent it from Autozone, or just go to a good parts place and ask for a pilot bushing puller.

1) Buy the snap on hook tool ($65)
2) Rent the slide hammer at local Kragen/Autozone, and just don't return the slide hammer ($20)

Cost: $85.00

Takes 2 sec to slide the pilot bushing out.
