Over Fenders

Just like the title states: Over Fenders.

let's discuss:

A couple weeks ago at Falken Drift Showoff I noticed a nice looking white s13 coupe with some unpainted but still very functional over-fenders. Here's a pic:

Now, does anyone know if these are production over fenders? Or did this guy make them himself? better yet, does anyone know who this guy is?

I went to phase2's site and it seems that they only have over fenders for "180sx" aka s13 fastback (lets not make this thread like the 180sx sticker thread)

so please, people with over fenders, post pics of your setup and wheel specs if you know them.

and if there is already a similar thread to this, and i missed it while searching....well....

I hate overfenders liket hat on 240s. They ruin the body lines of the car. The wheel arch type only work on certain cars like corrollas:

The best overfenders for 240s are the ones most companies like Origin use, doesnt disupt the body lines, but adds more clearance. Although I hate 50mm rear fenders, makes the car look to bulky in the rear. I have 30mm rear fenders but modified them to be less than that (probably like 20mm).

Wow, I just noticed that the wheels were sunk in the flares, and that car either:

A. Had alot of body roll.

B. Needs more lower.

But anyways, I think those flares rock, I like it. Especially if you're running big wheels... Drunk Bastard has an S14, but some guy was making carbon fiber flares they were in the FS thread if I recall correctly.

Rivet flares are badass, but I'd probably use screws or something. Seeing as rivets needs to be drilled out. Screws or bolts with locktite would make for replacing them faster. Heh...

ok, seeing as these flares are going to be used on a dedicated drift car, I DO NOT want fiberglass on the car. Yes, I know rivet on 50mm widebody looks great, cause it keeps the lines of the car bla bla bla. But what happens if I bap a wall? I totally destroy the fiberglass widebody, and the work and the paint that went into it. So, as I was saying....anybody know of BOLT-ON FENDER FLARES for the s13 coupe??
here are jspecs:

Any idea of why these are for the fastback? I dont see why they WOULDN'T work on the coupe

What makes you think having bolt on flares will save the car anybit if you hit a wall.

Scenario 1: w/ flares
Hit a wall, flare breaks off, 1/4 panel dents in, fender flare no longer fits without major pulling, and even then, more than likely above the flare will be dented and hard to pull, car now looks like ass w/ or w/o flares

Scenario 2: w/ overfenders
Hit a wall, break overfenders, probably dent your 1/4 panel underneat it, buy new overfenders, covers the whole thing...

Scenario 3: either or
Hit wall, car swings hits front, now you have more to fix..

im with kiddynomite. where did you get 30mm flares? the only company i know who makes them is MSport, but their flares cost like $580. which is more than i'd like to spend on something that i will have to cut, rivet, fiberglass/bondo, and do body work on. i think Origin/VS flares for 300 is a fair price but they only make copies of the 50mm flares.

On the Classic-Celica forum a few guys where using 240Z fender arches on their Celicas. I think so long as the shape of the arch is pretty close it will work. Rivit on flares are sick.

that car is with enonvativ force here in los angeles

i have no idea who makes those fenders, but they dont match up with the coupe at all. that coupe used to be hard without the flares.

those flares you showed in the pic above are PJ bonafacio flares iirc, call phase2 about em

I think he is talking about getting possibly urethane fenders. He just doesn't want fiberglass because of its low durability.

just dont hit a wall.. last thing id be worried abotu when hitting a wall is if my exterior was ok.. of course its gonna get fawked up.. Id just worry if the chassis is still good or not.. You gotta pay to play right?

Pull/crimple the shit out of the rear quater panal to fit larger wheels.. then frp front fenders..

lol, you guys are great

"just dont hit a wall.." hahaha, OBVIOUSLY you have NEVER driven at Altamont Raceway....

kid dynomite, in most cases of hits that i've seen the 1/4 right by the tail lights is the piece that has taken damage, not the area around the wheel....which makes sense, considering that the ass-end is hanging out. also, its more expensive to buy new full sized flares, rather than just over fenders.

ok, so i have received some negative comments, with a couple postive feedbacks. but it has all been bullshit. if anyone read my original post i stated that i am looking for examples of companies that make these flares or people who have experience with them....not people who are looking to criticize the post.

....i knew i should have gone straight to ziptied and not wasted my time here.

I think bomex180's are the best looking flares I've ever seen on an s13:

I think he used 240z flares, but I'm not sure.

Thumbs down

i have a same set of flares brand new never used them as i sold the car before i got around to put them on, identical ones on bomex180's car, from the same manufacturer, $200 for all 4. With this you can pretty much run any wheel, tire size.. btw i'd like to get info where to get overfenders like some of you have picture in this thread that run along the fenders from edge to edge and come w/a lip that connect to it.. not at home right now, but have a picture of exactly what im talking about that i'll post later, if someone can identify the brand and maker that would be awesome.. i'd be down to run that anyday :-) but i'm sure it costs an arm an a leg

p.s. why do i have a thumbs down in my post? weird?
