What guages to run???

i was wondering if most people just use their factory temp guage and the factory oil pressure light when swapping to sr20, ca18, rb20, etc. or if its a good idea to run a more acurate guage for each. does knowing your oil pressure is low help in time or is it usually already to late.
are there other guages that are important to add????

In the UK, the factory temp gauge is known to have 3 readings. COLD, NORMAL, DEAD ENGINE!!

You can have an overheating engine, and it'll hardly move! Its a good idea to get accurate Gauges

Edit - I forgot to mention, this is with the OEM SR20DET

its really a good idea to have an oil pressure gauge. relying on a warning light is a little scary. it is possible to have lower than normal oil pressure without having any of the signs yet (valve tap, bottom end knock, etc)

if you plan on going sr, (im not sure how the rb's and ca's are with heat), getting a more accurate water temp. gauge is a must. they normally run a tad on the hot side (without any mods to the cooling system) and they can overheat quickly, so getting a real numerical temp. gauge will help with the slightest changes.

it really comes down to how much you have done to the engine. the time and money is invested, the more you may need/want to keep an eye on.

for example: say you upgrade your fuel pressure regulator to an adjustable unit. some have a gauge right on the unit, but its nice to know what its pushing when you're in the car.

STACK = badass

my project car is getting autometer mechanical pro-comps to start

cheap and they get the job done.

will upgrade when I have the dough, would just rather spend it on some other shit.

Depends how much you want to spend. I personally like Autometers... simple, not to flashy, decent price, and proven to work. You can find them on eBay for $50-$60 new.

i still use autometer guages. dont see any reason to use others. essential guages are: oil and water temp. guage, oil pressure guage, Boost/wideband(if applicable)

i have autometers as temporary gauges, they're alriiiiiight..i really havent had a 'problem' with them, i just dont care for them. i dont like their design. when i turn my lights on and the guage lights up the guage light sucks and its really hard to read. defis are nice, and no doubt stack if you have the cash.

I'm rockin the Omori gauges. Infinite color backlight, 52mm or 60mm stock looking, and warning lights

Megans gauges suck, I wouldn't use them on my go kart

That's my only complaint about autometers as well, the back-lighting is hard to see... it's to dim.

Omori make good gauges! I believe they make Nismo gauges, as well as a few others for various brands

I have the carbon fiber series. The back lighting on them is pretty bad, I replaced the factory bulbs with brighter ones, and it's still on the dimmer side.

I think these look kinda rad.

I just need a tach, so I'm going to run autometer.

but these are about the same price.

dont suffice for the cheaper guages if you plan on going baller status later on. just save the money, maintain the car properly and then buy the defi's/blitz/stack or whatever. it doesnt make sense to me why people buy cheap stuff just to have it, and then start saving up for baller stuff. its like paying for the product twice haha...just my .02

oil pressure, boost, and a better temp gauge wouldn't hurt. The stock one is a shitty 3 position switch. By the time it starts going to the hot side, your car is already overheating bad. Autometer!
