s14 A/C help?

I've had my s14 for a while now and the A/C has never been cold. It just blows warm air. The light turns on from the a/c button and everything but just blows warm air out. I checked for leaks and i had noticed that the Pipe that has the Low Pressure cap on it was cracked. So i just replaced the pipe. So now can I just get r134a recharge kits from the stores and recharge it? or do i have to take it to a shop to get it recharged?

your system was open to air.

assuming you dont have any other leaks and everything is working, the next step for you is to replace the a/c drier. its the metal can with two hardlines coming out of it by the battery. it costs about $80 from nissan.

after that, i suggest taking it to a shop and getting it vacced and charged. a can or two will work, however, but its not as cold as a real charge from a shop.

Once the system is opened it's exposed to moisture, this damages the drier.
