McLaren expelled from 2007 World Championship

AND fined $100 million. This is kinda shitty, but what can I say. The full details of the WMSC meeting will be posted by the FIA tomorrow. I dunno. Discuss.

Sucks... They can't race and have to pay a heavy fine... I'll probably comment again after I read the full details tomorrow... Nice find...

From the espionage/stolen intellectual property case involving Ferrari I would asume. Interesting to see what McLaren will do next since Ron Dennis threatened to leave Formula 1 if penalized by the FIA.
Good news for us Ferrari fans espcially following the debacle at Monza.

wow so the FIA decided that the supposed stolen Data from Ferrari was known about by the whole team and not just the principle people originally accused of stealing. This is major news in the F1 world as the two championship leading drivers were both McLaren based.

Not 'supposed' or allegeded anymore. More like 'verified'. Remember analysis commenting that perhaps this was the reason that the McLaren cars are so easy on the Bridgestones while other teams have had a harder time - Honda, Toyota, Renault - thrashing them.

Doesn't affect Hamilton and Fernando's fight though. If anything it makes it more interesting since they're now free to race each other.

Between advertising, race and track costs, and all things between, there wont be any problem using that money. That is if they ever get it...

If you ask me, its pretty steep for a person employed by McLaren possesing a leaked secret document from their competitors. There has been no proof(to my knowledge) that McLaren did anything to acquire the information or used it in any way. I doubt we've heard the last of this whole thing.

As much as I like the F1, professional sports and the amounts of money involved in them are ridiculous, the money could be put to way better use somewhere else, such as promoting sports that mere mortals can afford to participate in, and more tracks for us.

The $100 million isnt the big deal, its the $170+ million they don't get from winning the constructors championship. You also have to think about sponsors now not wanting to be associated with team Mclaren. Its not like they are going to drop out for financial reasons but they aren't going to be happy about it.

I'm assuming the biggest reason the drivers didn't get in trouble besides what hey are saying in the papers(they snitched and gave evidence) is the backlash from the public. If Lewis and fernando were DQed, it would look horrible for the sport.

I'm really wondering what is going on with Ferrari, without ross brawn and schu they seem really inconsistent.

but the f1 world would be pretty pissed if lewis hamilton was no longer allowed to win the title.

also their fine may only be 30 million since the prize money they most likely would have won from the constructors title, would have been worth about 70 million.

sucks to hear that even the highest level of racing in this world has cheaters...

Even though it started with one person at mclaren, everyone on that team should have kept it that way and turned him in early. Now they have scarred their name a bit imo

i don't know about F1 world but I can guarantee you that Ferrari fans would have been static.

Not surprised to hear that cheating exists, after all it is an extremely competitive sport where the difference between #1 and #10 on a grid are hundreds of a second. They just got caught red (lol, get it?) handed.

This is big not only because the situation at hand, but also because this could have been the worlds first F1 Championship won by an "black" man. Lewis Hamilton is already the first black man to win a race I was looking forward to him winning the championship also.

I don't think it is a bad thing that the drivers are given immunity.
I look at it as if I am given a job, where I do what it is I do, or as is delegated for me to do, with no knowledge of what is going on upstairs in the office. How can I be held accountable for the shady dealings of people who I 1) do not directly interact with for the completion of my tasks, and 2) likely (well, confirmed following this) have more to gain by not FULLY disclosing what it is they're doing to get that competitive edge?
Sometimes being a pawn in the game sucks, but the pawn is only as accountable as his situation leads him to be, no?

Problem is the Team Boss of Mclaren(Ron Dennis) Tattled on his driver(Fernando Alonso) for having information about the Ferrari team.

Ron must feel like a real fucking moron he just lost his team $100 million and the championship.

Seeing Fernando Alonso back at Renault next year(my guess) will be priceless.

Randall is black, I guess you could tell that by his post, and most already know that I am as well. Understandably speaking, especially as a minority, it is a point of contention to be proud of one's race when breaking new ground in a sport where one our own color is not often seen.
While I know Randall personally and need to ask him why the fuck his car is camping out behind his parents' house so often, I am not one to so readily call on someone's race, but I understand why it was done

Yeah like Phil said I am a black man or a person of minority and being such a big motorsports fan it really means alot to have some that "look" similar to me be at the top of the worlds elite. I mean it might not mean much to you, but it means alot ot me becuase you don't really see too many black people at the top of the game when it comes to world wide motorsports. I wish he could just still win the title and all that jazz without all of the controversy, thats my biggest thing because if he wins in history this will always follow his title as well. And my car is camping out because I'm a busy mechanical engineering student who feel safer with his car at home than with him at charlotte.

I understand what you're saying, but he is a rookie, so i have no doubt that he will continue to do well and most likely win a few more titles(possibly for other teams, without the drama). He still has his entire career ahead of him. When his contract is up with Mclaren, the other teams will scramble to take him, since he has so much potential, showing that by beating out the veterans this year.
