Regular and Super Hicas, steering rack differences?

Well my 93 super hicas needs a new front steering rack and I was wondering what the differences were in the super hicas steering racks and the non hicas ones. Also if they can be interchanged with little to no modification.
Thanks.

Yes they are interchangeable, the ratio is the only difference.

What are the ratio differences, and how will putting a non hicas one in adversely effect the car?

Ok just found the ratios for the 2 racks

non hicas is: 17.1
super hicas is: 14.9

wow will this effect the car?

i am guessing that with the super hicas rack, it just takes less turns lock to lock...

keep searching or buy a rebuilt hicas rack. you'll be disappointed with a standard rack, it's kinda slow. people usually upgrade to the hicas rack if anything.

there's a site like www.steeringracks.com or something like that. i remember seeing reviews, but unfortunatly i think they were bad.

I tried steeringracks.com to trade in my standard rack for a hicus. someone else I know tried it also and get a regular one. call a nissan dealership and ask for the rebuild kit. I get most of my nissan parts through pinnacle nissan in arizona. say you are from zilvia and get a good price.

if your rack is just leaking then make sure you have some fluid and pray you get through tech. Other than that I am sure it's a lot simpler to just buy as rebuilt rack from steeringrack.com than it is to rebuild it yourself.

Just buying a rebuilt rack would be easier. However, the chance of getting another Hicas rack is slim to none.
