quick starter wire question.

so my car doesnt start while im in the car. while looking into it i realized that one of the wires going to the starter was disconnected... so then i connected it back to the starter and tried to start the car....... nothing........ so i take that same wire off and hook it straight up to my battery and the car starts(when the accessory is on). so this tells me that the wire is going to my ignition;my question is. where should i start? theres gotta be something wrong somewhere in the wire right?

any hints would be appreciated

I just had this problem. You need a new starter relay or you have a bad connection, which could include your clutch safety switch and your ignition switch. On my 92 hatch it was both a bad connection and relay, and on my 91 coupe it was just the relay.
If you have a circuit tester try testing the lead going to the starter from the harness with the ignition in the start position and the lead disconnected from the starter...the one you connect to the battery to start the car... if it has power then you probably just have a bad connection where that unplugs. Try cleaning it or replacing if needed(Rarely)
The relay is connected to the passenger side wall of the engine compartment, towards the front and behind/to the side of the battery. It is blue and has two plugs going into it. If you have a junk yard near by go snag another relay, unfortunately you can't tell if they're good or not unless you try them on a car that already has a good one, in addition the relay can connect intermittently which adds to the confusion. I have an extra I tested if you want to buy it or you can pay the big bucks and buy a brand new one.
Try what I've mentioned and let me know if this doesn't work there are more tests you can run. In addition, I give this advise hoping since you own a 240SX you are relatively mechanically inclined and won't kill and/or injure yourself or others in the process. If I guessed wrong then take it to a mechanic.
