If I wanted to get around 240rwhp out of an S13 SR..we'll say redtop.....what would i have to do, and is this even possible. I knokw there is the obvious like downpipe, catback exhuast, but how much boost would I have to run, if its possible to run enought to get you to reach somewhere in that area? Thanks.

Before boosting more than stock, you should add an intercooler. This should generate a lot more power and you can safely boost up some more. 240hp is not hard to get. Boosting up to 13-15psi should wield 230-250rwhp. But that's with a stock turbo. It's highly recommended to replace that puny t25 to release the SR's true power.
EDIT: 15psi is really pushing it though, any higher and the turbo loses it's efficiency.

I've argued this over and over with so many people.
I have an S13 blacktop SR20 in my '91 fastback. I have the following basic mods: front mount IC, 2 1/2" piping 3" downpipe and exhaust, no cat stainless steel filter (oiled cotton=bad for MAFS's) Blow off valve boost controller (manual) walbro in tank fuel pump 6 puck clutch aluminum crank pulley, no A/C, no power steering gauges I've boosted as high as 22 psi. This was in fifth gear, about 4500 rpm's. The boost spiked to 22psi, then slowly fell to 16psi. Normally, when driving full throttle, redlining all gears (when drag racing), The boost will spike to between 16-18psi, and fall to between 13-11psi. The efficiency of the T25 turbo is really short, and while it will spike to high levels of boost (i've seen as high as 27psi.), it will only hold around 15psi before the motor outflows it. I've never had any problems leaning out at these boost levels, either. I figure that with the modifications I have, I'll be putting down around 260 or 270 whp. Alright, flame on...

Sorry if this doesn't relate, but I have some questions that I would love to know once and for all. Ok, after getting an Sr20DET, what modifications would be most recommended [with limited cash] for the longevity of the engine and turbo? Some have said FMIC and Booster Controller is all I need, but I have heard that the backpressure of stock exhaust is going to ruin the turbo, so i would need a downpipe, some sort of exhaust and maybe a turbo timer to help the engine have a longer life. What would you guys buy first in order of importance? Thanks for any replies...

the cheapest turbo timer is yourself and a minute of patientce. but yeah a FMIC or at least some form of intercooler. if you get a clip and or are on a budget jsut set everything up as stock. thats your cheapest route that way your running safe and reliable as nissan intended it

A turbo timer is not really needed since the turbo is both water and oil cooled, there is less of a danger of killing the turbo. I would say just let it cool off for 30 secs to be safe but it is designed by nissan to be factory reliable and since most people dont install turbo timers, they watercooled the turbo.

exactly. I have a TT but havent installed it yet I just sit there for a minute to be sure because I do drive hard. the harder I've driven the longer I sit there. for me the TT will be aconvience thing. but I am looking into an alarm with a TT built in so I havent hooked my TT up yet <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]()

Sorry for being redundant, but let me clarify it. When you guys say let it cool down a little after running it hard and be patient, what do you mean? You mean like just sit there before turning off the engine??? And I should get a FMIC first of all? then what else? Thanks for the help...

this is the order that i bought my junk
1. air filter, exhaust, downpipe 2. electric fans, new clutch (dont get the spec stage 1) 3.feul pump 4.intercooler 5.guages 6.manual boost controller 7.turbo timer 8.suspension those are the major things

I would say:
1. Fuel pump (300zxtt or Wlabro) 2. Bypass or Blow Off Valve 3. intercooler 4. Downpipe 5. exhaust 6. boost gauge 7. boost controller 8. clutch - you may want to do this first, since it's easier when the engine's out. --luke

yes thats exactly what i mean. sit there and let it idle for a minute or so. it keeps hot oil from gooing up the turbo which can lead to premature turbo death and thats bad. on a budget - check the clutch and flywheel when you get the motor set/clip if its good use um if not this is a perfect time for spec/ACT stage II and lightened flywheel. basically if you dont get a clip your gonna HAVE to buy downpipe and either a test pipe or high flow cat, belts, intake filter possibly a MAFs
