SARD Torque Control Valve

Ordered this from More-japan on Thursday and the UPS man nocked on my door this morining. Just wanted to post up some pics. Its the SARD Torque Control Valve, regulates the diameter of the exhaust piping. TCV has smaller piping diameter to give you torque at low rpm and opens up to give you more power up top. Im very impressed with the quality of the product. Im planning on installing it this coming weekend when Im free and Ill keep you guys updated.

Looks like that fits where the stock cat goes...

How much and is there any controls or does it just work by itself?

Yeah it basically bolts up where the stock cat is. It works off of exhaust backpressure. There is a spring loaded valve aand when exhaust pressures reach a certain limit, then the valve opens up releasing the backpressure.

yeah ive seen that thing before, its got a throttle cable setup on it (or something along those lines..) i was wondering how this setup worked....does the line go into the cars interior and you manually change the valves position, or does it run into the engine band and works off the throttle body...

I have one friend with this, he says he felt a difference, but you can hear a rattle from inside it at low RPM.

Let us know how it goes. I was planning on getting one also.
I think some of you guys are mistaken this for the apexi one. That ones uses a cable that you route inside of the car to adjust the valve.
This sard product uses a spring system inside. When there is more pressure it opens up more.

Just FYI, Kure Motorsports is the US importer for sard.

I've driven a car with one...I couldn't tell you if it did anything but rattle and help for noise at low throttle...

that would be me.... i ran a 3'' test pipe before i could tell it made a nice difference... i drove it both ways the same day i changed to the sard tcv.. for daily the rattle is a lil annoyin to some but i got use to it... the increace in low end punch and slightly quicker spool make it all worth it
i've ran mine for about a year now with no issues also it did quit my car down a noticable amount ... when i first ran the TCV i ran a 3'' apexi N1 now im running a dual n1 and its even more of a difference

I've had one of these for over 6 months. I'm really happy with it. I had a 3.7 inch exhaust before with a test pipe, so it was pretty loud. I got a new 3 inch exhaust with this, so I can't make a pepsi challenge comparison, but I am really happy with it. It is quieter at low rpms, and it does open up when you hit the gas.

It's basically a 3 inch mushroom shaped plunger with a 1-1.5 inch hole in the center, so at low rpm is remains closed (exhaust passes through the small hole). You can see it best in the bottom pic. When you step on it, the plunger moves back, opening up to the full width of the pipe.

It does rattle slightly, but that's just when warming up the car and the rpms are up a little - like 2kish. It sounds like finger cymbals that belly dancers use. Not very bad and only noticeable to you.

It's rebuildable, too.

I've had this for ages.

It's a waste of money. All it does is quiets your car down a little.

Let alone, it's pointless to have any backpressure on a turbo car.

After time the soot and age will make the plunger stick.

Shit is weak.

Here's a pic of the inside. When exhaust pressure builds up, the valve opens and exhaust gas is allowed to flow through the hole as well as around the sides. Here's the link to the full description:

I'm not sure what kind of car i would put this on... but i know it wouldnt be mine.

I have a 3in hiflow cat and that quieted my car down some (til the ewg opens anyway) and it made it sound deeper - where before it sounded snarly and mean... so if u want the car quieter just get a cat (i got a cat because i need it to get my car registered as a collectible - must meet certain amount of emissions regulations )

The only way I'd put up with any additional rattles (especially in the cop-unfriendly zone of idle-3000rpm) would be if it could spool a GT3071 or TD06-20G a few hundred RPM faster... otherwise I'll just stick with a $30 straight 3" test pipe into my Apexi WS Noir. Let us know how you like it, and what kind of setup you're running.

You Fail.

Your friend is just hurt over the fact that his butt dyno is the only thing that changed when he installed that.

SARD TCV is on sale for $160 these are best to quiet your car down and give you some backpressure out of boost... less drone less poping with that 3inch exhaust. It will give you some low end and isn't much more expensive than what some test pipes are going for...
