other than cutting a hole for the HUD to sit in, is there much to the install? switching the instrument cluster and cutting the hole, installing the HUD in the hole... i understand there's some sorta special panel on the windshield, too... what's it made out of, is there some sorta alternative i could fabricate? also, would it be possible to switch my odometer into the  hud instrument cluster?
questions questions questions...

The cluster wiring harness is different.  The plugs from the analog won't even line up.

The odometer should swap.

The panel on the windshield can be duplicated with a piece of plain old light window tint!

There's one in the FSM and in the manuals that copy the FSM (the Chilton manual has a copy of the FSM's wiring diagram)

But if you really wanted to do it, I'd say just get the original HUD harness!  I'll check in the manual when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it's just a short section of harness that can be unplugged.  You'll need the HUD-specific connectors anyway so you might as well.

alright, I had a look at the diagram.

The HUD and non-HUD clusters definitely use different instrument panel harnesses. &nbsp; The good news is that the cluster is the only thing that attaches to the harness. &nbsp;when you remove the cluster, it'll be plugged in via three rectangular connectors. &nbsp; The other end of this harness will be two larger rectangular connectors, one black and one white. &nbsp;I don't know where in the dash this connection is made. &nbsp; When you grab the cluster, just grab the entire harness it's attached to, and everything should plug in and function normally <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
