Sounds like you figured it out already! Did you check the ecu for codes yet?

Swap maf. You can use a SOHC one if you have one laying around.

Turn key to "On"

locate the tiny screw on the backside of your ECU

Turn it clockwise fully for 3 seconds

Turn it counterclockwise fully and see the LED next to the screw blink.

Count and determine codes (55 = all good)

Turn it clockwise fully for 3 seconds then counterclockwise fully to rest.

Fix accordingly.

Check the wiring too on your maf since you had to extend it out...

Did you change it to a SOHC or DOHC maf? Only SOHC works.

don't worry about the check engine light...check the led ON the ECU itself.

again, the ECU itself has an LED built into it for this purpose.

True, although I wish the OP gave us more information; he didn't state what s13 blacktop ECU he has. If he has a J4 ECU, it doesn't have an LED. If that's the case then easiest way (for me) was to wire up the consult port and check codes on my laptop... much easier.

get a voltmeter and check the voltages, one is signal volatge, one is power and one is ground. you can use paper clips to tap into the plug. dunno if your skilled enough for this...but thats how I checked my maf when I had a problem..ended up being my ground wire.
