solid mounted exhaust question

only doing this because the greddy ti-c sits so dam low! its not the rubber mounts or car, it came shitty.

idea is to weld two thick steel tabs to pipe with gussets. bolt to rear subframe. i tacked on a tab and bolted it up. the exhaust was 3 inches higher with no-clearance problems. or take more time cut/bend existing hangers? no flex pipe. so that sucks too, any input ?

why not make the hangers shorter? that would be alot better. to me i think the exhaust needs no move some. so solid mounts wouldnt be the best.

Do it.

It'll be rock hard.

Might as well. I mean if the exhaust is going to get hit, it'll get hit both ways.

Mount it to the subframe and maybe one place further up.

Done.

Hanger probably would take a chunk out of the pipe though.

We did this on our shop car, only thing is if you go of track or over something in the road, the exhaust can't move to accomadate the obstruction, so you either break stuff or bend it. just make your hangers shorter and if you are going to solid mount, use a flex pipe or your shit will break somewhere.

What would he be hitting that hard?

Just look where you're going and it shouldn't be a problem.

It will make a lot of noise and like stated above, if you hit something (you can't always see or avoid it) you will bend/break your exhaust or the mounts or what ever the mounts are mounted to.

Use shorter hangers with rubber mounts.

Just shorten the metal hangers and use Urethane bushings.

The car will be unbearable noisy. The welds with crack from the vibrations and with break when you hit something if you hard mount.

ha, my exhaust is against the body and I still hit something on the highway causing it to bend.

Before you go spending money making solid mounts or shortening them just try what I suggested. My exhaust sits maybe 1/2" lower than my frame rails.
