how to use SEAFOAM
hey , sorry to ask but I just get a bottle of SEAFOAM , how do I have to use it ? i have a 240sx 97 with the KA24DE , other thing ! does this thing really works ??? what are the pro's and the con's of using it ???

It has directions on it... I put a 3rd of the bottle in my gas tank, a 3rd in the crank case, and a 3rd in the brake booster. Drove for a few minutes, poured smoke, changed oil. done

The intake line is the fat one that runs along the top of the firewall. Let it suck the seafoam in slowly. If you rush it it'll only stall. When the liquid is gone turn the car off and let it sit for a 5 min or so. Nows the perfect time to pour the other 2/3 into the gas tank and the crank case. Start it up and let it idle for a couple minutes. Smoke should be coming out the tailpipe. Go full throttle a few times and should get a ton of smoke. Check for leaks in the engine bay as well. Smoke is not suppose to coming out of anywhere in the engine bay. When you notice less and less smoke now is the time for a little neighborhood run. Go around your neighborhood and make sure to do a couple WOT pulls. 5-10 min. of driving, but nothing more. You don't want to risk fucking anything up. Now change your oil and your oil filter.
There's also a transmission formula. Smoothed out my shifts a bit considering my auto was f'ed to all hell. Might do it to the 5 speed soon too. P.S. Consider changing your diff fluid. Who knows how long some of you have gone without changing it ![]()

car handles the same because you're not doing anything suspension wise
![]() it gets rid of a lot of carbon build up and what not. some ppl experience smoother acceleration, others a light power increase, and some know it works because it helped them pass smog. when I first did it I noticed smoother acceleration and it definitely helped me when passing smog.

well!!! thats what I meant ! hehehehe ! not in the suspension I was talking in the engine hehehehe my bad!!!! well ! I guess now I have something nice to do this weekend hehehe !

This Seafoam stuff actually works. I had accelerating issues and this rid me of that and never experienced that again. I did exactly waht they have said, but it might me helpful to have someone else helping you while you do this so your car doesn't stall.

i love SEAFOAM. so what a man cant love a bottle of green fluid? i just take off a brake booster vaccum hose dont let the engine die, it stutters just do a litle at a time. let it sit for about 10-15 mins. THEn VRome REdline it till you cant see anysmoke coming out ur car. well u dont have to redline maybe about 6 rpm. iuno i love this Stuff. made people think their was a fire hahaha. after i did this my friend called saying theirs 3 police cars looking for me. dumb cops i was already on the freeway.

I have used seafoam a few times, always works and is worth the 8-10$ bucks it costs. 1/4th the price of a BG induction service too....
Any1 used it for anything else?

I've Seafoamed my '98 the past 3 times I've changed my oil and will be again in a couple of weeks. It's awesome stuff. It's tons of fun to smoke the crap outta my backyard and all my neighbors yards, lol. You probably notice that at idle right now your car probably sits at around 1100-1200 rpm's. After seafoaming you'll notice it's dropped to 800 rpm's.

I've used seafoam several times on my own 240s, and couple of times on my boys cars. Usually after all the smoke is gone and yada yada yada, the typical reaction is HOLY SHIT.. Actually, thats the reaction every time. On my KA is smoothened out the idle, acceleration, and improved my fuel economy. I used it everywhere.. My buddys wrx went from being fast, to being a rocket ship.. The amount of smoke that came out was amazing.. His entire neighborhood had it's own cloud. Nevermind the highway.. that was absolutely rediculous.
On a side note.. if you run it, stay off the street as seafoam is potentially dangerous to other drivers due to the PLUMES of smoke shooting out of the exhaust. On my Sr'd s14, I only use it in the intake. Nissan clearly states don't use any shit in the gasoline, as the cars are sensitive to fuel additives. So I stay away... I don't use it in the crank case.. because.. well shit, if you need to clean anything in the oil system, your motor is fucked anyway. A motor with proper oil changes should never need chemical cleaning. Only sludged motors would need such service, in which case they are junk anyway. Or if you bought the car from a negligent owner...Yea maybe then too. ****************** PLEASE READ******************* If for whatever reason you find the need to use it through the oil system, and the motor has not seen regular oil changes.. there may be raw chunky shit from the cleaning process in your oil pan. AKA.. you will need to remove the oil pan, and clean this raw chunky shit out. Motors with proper oil change intervals will not have raw chunky shit in the oil pan =) Seafoam is known for ruining 1) Spark Plugs 2) O2 sensors. If you are going to run seafoam anywhere in your system, either be ready to change out the plugs and sensor(s), or swap in oil sensors and plugs before Seafoaming. For example.. I have an old O2 sensor and 4 old plugs I swap in when I do seafoam. I run the car with the old o2 and plugs in for 2-3 days. Afterward, I swap in my newer O2 and plugs so as not to ruin them. Like someone mentioned before.. Seafoam is a GREAT way to find exhaust leaks. Exhaust leaks will smoke like a mofo!!!! Be safe kids ![]() ![]() ![]() -Bart |

First off, i'm not trying to flame you DreamN.... HOWEVER, using sea foam in the crank case that often is RETARDED. You area actually doing your motor harm IMO.
Also, everyone who reads this thread, please STUDY the above post. He speaks the truth. As a matter a fact, the reason i DONT use seafoam in the crankcase is because i once had a VERY WELL running motor that just happened to have crud all over the head/cam caps. After running an engine block cleaner before an oil change(NOT seafoam) i ended up starving my engine of oil because of crap stuck in the oil pump. It took a few weeks after the oil change for the check oil light to come on... By then it was too late. Lesson learned. |

Actually DJ Sunrise you brought up something I completely forgot. I always use used plugs and an old o2 sensor while doing the whole process. I killed two perfectly good denso o2 sensors and fouled a couple plugs as well before knowing this.
gotta240, just so you know I don't go by the standard 1/3 fuel, 1/3 intake, 1/3 crank case method. I use maybe a fifth, if that, in the crankcase because I know I really don't need it. Though because of the age of my engine I run thicker motor oil instead of thin synthetic oil. This allows for the oil to thin out a bit and get rid of old oil. It's honestly worked wonders for my engine from the day I swapped it in and aided me in passing my smog test. I'll continue with my method just because it's worked so well for me for the past year and a half on my 240. Though, to be fair, I've never used it on my Lincoln other than the intake. Never in the gas tank or my crank case. Also only do it every other oil change. Finicky fuel systems and a very well maintained engine wouldn't any additives.

Yup yup...you must be very careful with seafoam when it comes to crankcase. If you really want to do a treatment for the engine, go to a car dealership and ask about BG "Performance Enhancer". It is a two part kit containing a chemical "like" seafoam for the cleaning portion. The tech lets the motor idle with the stuff in there for a little while. After ward, they hook up a BG machine to pressurize the motor internally to "spit" out whatever fluids, or as in the case of dirty motors.. chunks of shit may remain. This would be akin to removing the oil pan and cleaning it.. obviously you wouldn't have to in this case. Part to is BG "MOA" - aka Motor Oil Additive. Super duper fantastic awesome shit that BG sells. Very good lubericant that they mix in with oil and pour it in. At the Toyota dealer I work at, we've had dumb fuck quick lube techs forget to fill a car with oil.. but they did fill up the motors with MOA. We've had cars that traveled 20-60 miles on MOA alone before the motor seized. Go to your local toyota dealership, and ask them to do the BG "performance enhancer" kit. I'm sure other dealerships do it too, but I know Toyota in general is keen on it.

I run the full bottle through the fuel tank when I have 1/4 tank of gas. Then continue to drive on that 1/4 tank untill it is almost empty, non stop. After the tank is almost empty I fill the tank up.

Then insert it into a cup of about 1/3 can of SEAFOAM and let it suck it up. The car should die after that flooding of Seafoam. Wait about 20 mins, then start the car up (might take a few cranks) Then have some fun with it...smoke out your neighbors!! ![]() |
