Turbo Question - GT3076R
Im looking to change my turbo soon, Im torn between going top mount or staying bottom mount. I guess Garett came out with the GT3076R with the T-2 flange so I can stay bottom mount. My issue is that whether or not the damn thing will clear or if imma have to modify the engine mount bracket.
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...gory_Code=VSR2 Or I can go top mount...Synpase topmount with a GT3076R http://phase2motorsports.stores.yahoo.net/sysrtuma.html Only thing with that is I will have to piece alot more stuff for it and im not too familiar with topmounts. Ive never messed with a topmount setup before so I have no clue what else I'll need for it. This setup comes with the Manifold, V bands/clamps for DP, and the GT3076R. I can get the external wastegate from them. Things ill need: Topmount oil lines, oil drain line/flange, DP fabricated, and a wastegate pipe. Not sure if I missed anything else, again, never had a top mount setup so not sure what else is involved for it over what I got on my list.... Im iffy about how laggy this setup would be on an SR. Last upgrade I had was a GT2871R bottom mount, that was fully spooled at around 4K. Also, I know ill have less power staying bottom mount since the T-2 flange is alot more restrictive, but would it also make it laggier vs a top mount setup? Any input would be appreciated at this point. |

You have to grind the mount bracket that bolts onto the motor. Just a little and need to make or wastegate. Let me find a pic .Hold on.
This is on my s13 track car. ![]() This is my daily driver s14 same turbo setup. I have done tons of them. ![]() |

I'm eventually gonna do the synapse/tial setup with a GT3076. but for now its just gonna be on a regular T3.
The 2540/3076WG is pretty weird, super mismatched wheel sizes. it'll be lazier than a true 30R. it'll be at 250wtq by 4200-4500 if you don't have cams and have a good tune. |

I was looking at that synapse setup, the only thing Im not digging with that setup is the weird tial flange on it. If I decide to change turbo again, that manifold will become worthless real quick.
Bottom mounts so appealing to me right now since itll save me money and have the least amount of downtime/fabrication. |

Uhh... thats the only reason to buy a synapse manifold.
The Tial housing is the best single scroll you can buy. If I don't have problems driving a T3 Single 3076 I'll be buying the Synapse setup, if I feel like it needs to be better I'll go Full Race Twin Scroll. Hey, any of you GT3076R guys reading this, I've got a brand new Precision 3076R E-Cover (3in 2out) if you want to drop a couple hundred rpm in spool time I'll trade you for the Ported Shroud E cover (4in 2out) Last edited by McRussellPants; 04-01-2008 at 08:52 PM.. |
