adjustable toe arm question
Well i got some new wheels/tires. I'm hesitant to put them on since i droped my 94 vert on KTS coilovers and cant get rear toe in spec. I got till the 26th to get them on (friends mounting/balancing/aligning for free) So i'm on more of a budget for rear adjustable toe arms than i want to be. I have 150 to spend. Anyone got recommendations? i've seen circuit sport, prodrift, megan racing all in my range.
I hate to go cheap since i run kts coilovers (w/32 rear spindle setup), and all SPL suspension, and poly bushings all the way around. But its the one suspension part i'm missing and i need it quick. I'll pick up some spls next year just need something descent to hold me over. Thanks in advance. |

if your worried about wearing out your tires install camber arms as well. having your toe in or out will slightly wear your tires but camber will wear them out much faster.
this is why i run 595's, they are cheap to replace with the amount of camber i am running. if your spending big coin on something nice like yokohama prada spec II i would for sure invest in all the arms. |

hhaha no shit
camber doesnt do nearly as much as toe. toe will destroy tires faster then you can believe. toe rods are the jam. splparts but since ur on uber budget..ebay or something. get some shitty ends. |

umm toe won't wear as fast but the position of the wear will kill the life period of your tire. still from experience it takes a while for toe to wear (depending how out it is) camber wear will wear faster. Now if your toe is out 1.0 of a degree thats a whole different story, but i am talking about 0.1 degree out in toe. which in the back is about how much it goes out, give or take a fee thousands of a degree. thats with a 2 inche drop... but who here stays that high

thanks alot thats what i needed to know kens.
The front camber/toe is in spec after i had it aligned from my buddy at his shop, master mechanic at lexus. The KTS' i bought let me adjust em, along with the spl tension rods. In the rear the SPL RUCAS adjust my camber into spec. It's just toe that i'm having an issue with everything else is in spec. From everyone i've talked to toe really wears your tires. Camber may cause alittle more wear but not much. It just wears the inner or outer of the tire more instead of the whole tire evenly. Please correct me if i'm wrong. |

and this is just a quick fix, in a few months to a year i'll be putting some spls on. My wife's ran into some major health issues (cancer, miscarriage) in the past month and moneys an issue due to this.
The tires im running for now are yokohama es 100s. Not super expensive tires but pretty nice. 205/50/15's on some white center/ polished lip 280zx turbo nazi wheels. A buddy of mine had some cheap prodrift ebay crap and they bent on him just from normal driving after a month or 2. I'm just trying to find something decent enough to hold up a summer. |

wow you couldn't be more wrong. did you take physics in highschool? just think about it. tires moving forward... if they're like this | |-----| | then the rolling resistance will be minimal...they will be rolling close to true while going forward and will not be "scrubbing" against the ground if they're like this / /----\ \ then there will be much more rolling resistance because the tires will be trying to go in their respective directions instead of going forward, which is no doubt where the car will be trying to go it's simple science man...just think about it a more aggressively cambered tire will wear unevenly and faster than a tire that is close to flat against the ground, but a tire that's not straight is going to wear out exponentially faster than one that is aimed straight (~0 toe)

read my second post
if you want my personal opinion buy all the arms for a proper alignment yes toe is bad, camber is bad.. both will wear the tires and both will cause a pull. but when lowering a car, esspecially in the back the camber is never consistant. I have seen some cars have -1.2 on one side and -2.2 on the other camber should always be 0.25 degrees within each other at most. this will cause a dramatic pull and ussually with the toe it will only go out a couple thousands of a degree between each other. Now with rear toe pull sure depending on how far down you drop it it depends on how much camber your car will gain and how much it will toe in. but on average lets go with a 2 inche drop, your toe in won't be that crazy If he doesn't want to spend that much i would be more concerned about a pull rather than slight wear in the toe. but we don't have all the facts. if he posted up his most recent alignment sheet from when his buddy aligned it, it kind of tells a bit more of a story than the info given |

Keep in mind we just did a quick alignment after we put the suspension on. We still had subframe bushing collars, new power brace, different wheels/tires and the toe arms going on.
But heres before: front left: Front right: Before: After: b4: after: -1.5 -1 camber -2.2 -1.2 8.2 8.2 caster 7.7 7.7 -.55 .02 toe .99 .05 15.2 14.7 sai 15.1 14.2 13.8 13.8 included angle 12.9 12.9 front: b4: after: cross camber .7 .5 cros caster .5 .5 cross sai .2 .4 total toe .44 .07 Rear left: Rear right: b4: after: b4: after: -2.7 -1.1 camber -2.4 -1.2 -.49 -.14 toe -1.27 -.19 cross camber b4 -.3 after .1 total toe b4 -1.76 after -.33 thrust angle b4: .39 after: .03 |

buy the spc toe arm set. its $110 shipped. get it aligned. you're done. http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=175487 why is it so cheap? it has a hard urethane bushing instead of a heim end arm is strong. won't bend on you. and you don't have to worry about a shitty ebay heim seizing up |

ya your buddy did alot of adjustments
obviously you have something to adjust your toe in the rear because he went out over a degree on the right side. by any chance is your car a hica's model??? |

^ yeah, but not by much.
it may sound a little ghetto, but have you thought of slotting the mounting holes in your stock toe arms to get a bit more adjustment till you can get quality parts?

they are stock toe arms with poly bushings. and no its not a hicas model. its a 1994 240sx convertible se. The only thing about slotting the stock toe arms is i'd feel like i'm messing with my safety alittle. Anyone really tried this?

Megan racing rear toe arms work just fine. I auto-x my s14 several times a season and daily drive it and I have no complaints. Save your money and go with these if moneys tight. Check ebay $110 shipped.

thanks guys. kind of feedback i'm looking for. I was looking at the max's but the price is so close to spls i'd spend the extra 30 bucks. The megans, CSports, spc or wicked tunings cost 120 dollars cheaper. Thats a major difference.
I got so much going on right now, and my tires are so shot, one already blew i had to toss a buddies steely on, i really need to get the new tires/rims on. If my tires were decent i'd even just run what i got but they are not so thats why i'm looking for the cheap way out till this winter. Hate to put excess wear on my new tires |
