Clicking sound from exhaust when car is warm and when car shuts off
I have intake, dc sport 1 piece 4-2-1 header connected to 2.25 exhaust piping leading to a muffler.
When I am driving, I keep hearing this clicking sound from the exhaust area. It sounds like something is expanding or contracting. When I come to a stop and shut off the car, the sound continues for a while then just stops. Is there a fix to this contracting and expanding sound? I am getting sick and tired of hearing it. |

![]() ![]() it is normal. All cars do it. Its the exhaust shirking back down to normal as it cools. Yes you can stop it. 1.Have no exhaust/headers/anything.. or 2.make your exhaust out of non-metal parts. |

try taking the heat sheild shit off if it still has it on the exhaust system, just need a 10mm ratchet and rip them all off. they can sometimes cause annoying noises and rattles etc. i did this and my exhaust doesnt have any odd noises now and it had heaps before haha

In my particular case, I hear the clicking while driving also. This is a custom 2.25 pipe that was made. There are no heat shields on there.
