Starting Problems k24e
Before I get to frustrated with this car trying to solve this starting issue figured I would ask here.....
Finished working on the suspension the other night got it back home and turn the car off and had to turn it back and on and it wouldnt start. Next day got a jump car started fine and figured it would be ok. Got the car over to advance auto had them test the battery and it was fine (dumb dumb at the counter said it was my alternator and that it was over charging the batter) so I pulled the alternator to have it tested and it tested fine. So now im back to square one.... 1. Car can be jumped but one its turned off it wont start again. 2. battery tested fine 3. alternator tested fine 4. soon as i turn the key everything cuts off. Could this be the starter relay next to the battery? |

try using a friends battery instead and see if it will start....
I had a bad battery that tested fine once... (Autozone) lol... i guess its worth a try.. i would double check all your connections... Including your ground for any corrosion

No, because the starter turns the flywheel which turns the motor over.
You can push start it if the starter I bad tho. The only reason to jump it, would be for a bad or dead battery. |

shit could be a bad starter. have you tried pulling the starter and get it tested? plus can you explain how did you test the battery and alternator? what voltage are you getting from the battery while the car is off? what about the voltage while your car is on after you jumped it? could be possibly a loose alt belt? possibly your battery is not holding charge?

I had autozone and advance test the alternator and advance tested the battery twice. I'm starting to think its either a connection somewhere is loose or the alternator is bad because after I jumped it and was driving back the night this started the headlights were going in and out.

So when you jump it, it starts, but if you turn it off right after jumping it, it doesn't start?
Do you have a DMM that you can use? If you do, check the power and ground sides of your starting and charging circuit. |

Problem Solved: I made this problem much worse than what it ended up being. I removed both battery and alternator had them tested both came out good. Put my battery in another friends car and it worked..... Bought and alternator and new battery clamps before the stores closed on christmas eve. Installed the battery clamps and what do ya know that was the problem the whole time.
Thanks for the help guys. Cant wait to just get this motor out the car cause after being in the engine bay a lot this past week im starting to see the previous owner was super lazy when they replaced this motor. (k24e to k24e ? why idk) |
