Stock s14 clutch replacement help?
My s14 has the stock clutch from 1995 and its slipping badly. I'm a noob so I don't know if there's anything I can do other than replacing the clutch. So one, should I replace the clutch? And two, what options do i have for replacing it if do?

But a new clutch kit, try and find one that comes with the pilot bearing, bushing, release bearing. If you're trying to not have any down time get a new flywheel or buy a used one and have it resurfaced.

Yes...it used to be cheaper to rebuild but our mass produced items allow for new instead of used...I have a local shop that does it and they do a great job...but they even advised if money is an issue get new...it depends on application...drifting get new...restoration eg your grandma's first car from 1930 get rebuilt cuz you won't find a new one

Question is whats done to the engine to help you decide how much of a clutch you'd need. No need to get some extreme heavy duty clutch if you're still on a KA. You can easily get an Exedy stage 1 or 2 and be more than enough for it.

It's been awhile and my sense of sarcasm isn't what it use to be. There are shops that services/rebuilds clutch discs and can make it to custom spec if required. If one is local, and its a daily this is a viable option depending on the price. As mention no need to go all out, when your clutch reached it life limit.

2. Yes, it is technically possible to add new friction material to an old disc, but NO, it will not be easier or cheaper than just buying a (incredibly common/easily available) new clutch kit. |
