S13 fast backs and dirty fucking Tailights/bumper?

This cant be just me right? Like, ill wash the turd and i literally go 1 mile and when i get out, the tailights, and top of the rear bumper are fucking caked with dust and dirt. If i go to wipe that shit, it seems to make it static and it sticks on even faster after that. So ill literally have a super clean car and tailights and bumper fucking filthy as all fuck. Anybody ever work out a solution? Is there like some cleaning shit that makes it not stick? Is it just me?
Am i fucking crazy or on meth? Should this thread burn in hell?

Ha!! Your car is normal. Almost every 240sx i've seen does this. Make sure you let get the water out of the creases. Always good to go for a short drive and come back and dry again. My car is the same way......

same.

i guess its just the shape of the car.

kinda like how exhaust really likes to recirculate back into the car when you open a window on fastbacks.

Haha. Indeed. like, HUGE. It did it when i had the Origin 3pc. also.
It just pisses me off. And i dont mean like, mud and shit from under the bumper. I mean literal dust and dirt. Like, someone takes a handful of dust and dirt and just THROWS it on my taillights and bumper.

maybe your motor spits out sand....

I know when my car used to have a DTM style muffler (lol wasn't me!) the tips were pointed upwards, and it used to spray my rear bumper with soot and shit. Even my driver's side tail light is permanently tinted because of that...

You can sorta see it in this pic...

A good thing to do would be to THOROUGHLY clean, then polish, then wax them.
Meguair's Quik Detailer will handle a quick wipedown from there on, so long as you do it regularly.

Keep in mind that the taillight butyl seal may be rotting and melting due to age.

You should pull off your taillights and replace the seal. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes and $20.

You might be misunderstanding here or im phrasing it wrong. Its not INSIDE the taillights, nor is it a cleaning problem, not a material detereoration problem. Its literally like my tailights and bumper are static charged and then one drive around the block gets ALL the fucking dust in the world caked on the surface. It wipes RIGHT off like dust, but it comes right back within a few blocks. Its SO annoying to get out of the car and see all that shit back there.

Same thing happens to me. Wax helps a little bit. And making sure it's really dry when you're done washing it.

It's because the car has such a flat rear end. Vacuum sucks all the dirt and trash going around and under your car up there.

I'm thinking maybe a rear diffuser would help? Just as an extra bonus of course.

its the inherent aerodynamics of our cars, nothing that you can do about it other than clean it off. If you think 240sx's are bad you should see how dirty the rear ends get on volkwagen golfs.

My fastback did that until I put aero on it.
That seemed to sole the problem.

Yeah Edgar, Ive been dealing with this shit for years.

Its pretty much an unsolvable problem. Waxing both the bumper and taillights wont resist the dirt, but it will make it easier to wipe off.

or a minivan? I dont see the point of this thread. It has to do nothing with your car vs any other car. Its just the way your car cuts through the air and there is a vaccume effect where there is no air, bumper, trunk, (tailgate) ect. just look at any other vehicle esp. vans and suv's. Its gonna happen, wax it and carry detailer and deal with it.

Haha I know what you mean, I just wipe it off.

I seriously haven't washed my car with water or any kind of cleaning product since I got it three years ago, I just wipe everything with a soft rag haha.

Yeah I get this problem also. I also hate it when the water from the cracks get all over the rear bumper when you drive it after a car wash. So I have to bring a rag with me to wipe it down every time T_T

so what about the inevitable exhaust-coming-into-the-cabin problem?

i cant seem to get rid of it, even with my exhaust sticking out a decent amount.

maybe its my shitty welds...

i cant seem to get rid of it, even with my exhaust sticking out a decent amount.

maybe its my shitty welds...
You must have a leak somewhere, check around the catalytic converter.

Until you fix it don't drive with the windows closed haha.

Yeah it must be something with the static build-up.
This happens on my 14 all the time and it annoys the hell out of me,
especially when I spend like 3+ hours cleaning the car.

Dust and Dirt just clinging to the rear bumper and tail lamps, wtf!!!!!
I've just been using a micro cloth and Mother's Quick Detailer in between washes to deal with that and keep the car clean.
