RHD Design in Azusa, CA **BEWARE**

Well to update you all, I see first of all that the moderators must think my updates are not worthy of being posted....

But it is now day 2 at 10:18pm

the day after that Steve promised my car was going to be done.....I have called a total of 4 times since 10:30 last night to check on the status of my car..

called again today at 3:30...."almost done" putting in the radiator...

called 7:10..."almost done putting in the radiator, we had problems with the fan...

called at 9:45pm ya we got the car started but it seems to be overheating.....

I really dont know what to say anymore......I am completely fed up

I have to call him to get updates.
I have to hear from his shop workers that I am getting it for a cheaper price..so what do I want...

I really dont think I should be the one chasing around for updates....I am very disappointed again....and this time I have no one to blame but myself.

He was doing the radiator...Then i checked the fan the bearings were shot... I took everything back out... To replace fan.. When u called i was doing the radiator... Then we got everything else finished up... We started it... Did the timing... Then it was over heating... What do want us to do about that? So we being the shop doing your work... Don't want to send u a overheating car... So we are fixing your problem...

Damn dude, you're getting carried away now with all these different threads. I felt sorry for you at first, but now it seems like you're just an annoying person. At least you know they're working on your car and trying to get that thing going, but they're running into problems, which happens sometimes. It's not good enough for you that they're still working on your piece at 9:45pm. Call any other shop or even store after 6:00 pm, I guarantee you they won't answer. WTF do you want an update after every bolt is put on....Just take a chill pill man...

i dont think a motor swap should take more then 2 weeks to put in tho

they had his car for a while just sitting there collecting dust i seen it there with my own eyes

if your car has been gone for a long time i think you would be calling and buggin the guy thats working on it too

RHD is just bad business stay away from them

i use to be there all the time i know what iam talking about when i say STAY AWAY FROM THEM

All I'm trying to say is skyline is wearing zilvia out with all these different threads. Why didn't you put this much effort into searching for a reputable shop. There's been stuff said about RHD for a long time, both good and bad. Just chill for a couple more days and it will all be over with. At the rate you guys are going, Murphy's Law will take effect: Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.

Im not trying to hate on you or RHD but like the saying goes... you get what you pay for. You went with them cause they were cheaper than anyone else so now deal with it and just chill. If you want shit done faster pay a little more for better service and do you're research. Like it was said above there is a bunch of info floating around here on RHD. Good luck with you're car though i know its hard to be patient sometimes, just wait a few more days and see what happens.

Damn that came out clean for 800 bucks. you really have to chill like everyone else said. You were also looking over his shoulder when he was doing the compression test? Patiences is something that not alot of people have... Next time just have the balls to take care of it yourself and stop involving zilvia.

Did that price include the motor, too? That's beyond hella cheap if it did. That's the homeboy hook-up for someone that's obviously not a homeboy. Just make sure you got the warranty verbage down straight so there'e no more hassles between you guys.

That's understandable, but there are a few things you should be aware of:

1. You should pick up the phone more often and if you can't answer, call people back within a reasonable time. This is in reference to numerous comments I have heard about RHDDesign.

2. Don't take your customer's cars out to meets. I remember seeing a kouki s14 at the arcadia meet one time and someone told me that it was a customer's car from RHDDesign. Unless you have a reasonable explanation, FAIL.

That's just bad business.

The saga continues. Why would you take a check after all this stuff? He just started another thread about location of the engine ID numbers. We're still waiting on his update as he promised. I wonder if he'll mention that his check bounced....

Why would you accept a check buddy?

You should know better Steven.

Swap looks clean.

GL with the check. I've been in that situation before.

Just saw the update on the price.

$800 for motor and labor. Geez.... that's low.

LOL I'M so glad i pay with cash so i don't look like a chump. LOL Why is your mom depositing your checks for you? It sounds to me like you're mad it took longer then what you were quoted. If you want somthing done fast do it yourself or just be quiet while the shop does the work, and if a shop has bad rep, take your cheap ass somewhere else,.... or don't complain.

Which kouki was this? A silver moss s14? If u should know that is a customers car and also the customer took it out there.. Want to meet him? He is a good friend of mine!

I would charge him a bounced check fee and that's perfectly legal....I guess the joke is on him now...This thread has been entertaining me for a couple of days now. I don't think I've ever posted this much before..

You should start a negative thread on him.

Well the check first of all is postdated to MAY 9th....look at the check first...I also wrote a check for my records, not to cheat someone out of work and parts. I'm not shady. I apologize that I did not anticipate that he would attempt to cash the check FIRST thing in the morning.

second I work FULL TIME....Unlike some people....which means I'm in the office everyday ALL day, PLUS SCHOOL, so please excuse the fact if I ask my Mom, yes my Mom, all of you should have one and know who she is, to run a errand or two for me here and there.

Secondly, SO quick to bring your rep back up and down play me, you forget you forgot to produce ON TIME FOR THE SECOND TIME???

Did you forget to MENTION TO YOUR FRIENDS THAT WERE HELPING YOU THAT I GAVE YOU A EXTRA $20.00- IN CASH TO BUY A CASE OF BEERS FOR EVERYONE??

To Steven's friends that were at the shop did Steven buy you guys some food or drinks? Ask him about it....

I dont see that written anywhere??

I WILL VOUCH THAT YES, Steven installed a S14 motor, YES it did have very good and EVEN compression across the board, YES his girlfriend was just finishing cleaning the engine bay, YES she did do a good JOB, YES I could tell that Steven was very tired, a bit agitated but still continued to give me what I asked for i.e. Compression test, A/C compressor,

YES he did honor his word and did exchange the parts that I initially bought from him, HUD speedo cluster, and S13 speed sensor. Both parts I originally purchased were bad, but he said he would exchange them and he did without further issues, (I still have not installed them to see if they work) but +1 for coming though on that.

BUT SOME MINOR THINGS that were not done/broken:
Check Engine light is NOT functional (I asked Steven to please give me a wiring diagram and I would figure it out myself, still have not received any emails or PM's)
Brand New clutch (approx 2,000 miles old) is completely shot....My guess would be that there is oil residue on the clutch plate( not confirmed)
Another $200+ PLUS Labor to repair
Engine was clean as hell, but the rest of the car looked like it got into a dust fight.
Temp Sensor did not work initially (Steven replaced it on the spot)
Slight Exhaust leak, I looked at it today, there appears to be another spot for a O2 which was ripped off and the remaining casing pinched off...
Also ate approx 100+-/- in rental car fees for the 6 days past the due date...(Steven offset SOME of that by knocking off from the engine install price) THAT IS WHY THE PRICE IS $800 and NOT MORE.

Overall evaluation......
If this were done COMPLETELY RIGHT the first time AND delivered ON TIME....**SMOKING DEAL*** NO ARGUMENT!! even at full originally agreed upon price.(Steven if you want to post price that is up to you)

fact is it was 6 days late from the PROMISED date. a phone called was not achieved until I posted on here Tuesday May 6th 2008

As you can see from my user status for all you people that say it was my own fault for not looking on here before, I do not come onto forums often, if I had known of this review forum and information BELIEVE me it would of saved me a LOT of headache.

I received NO phone call NO response for over 6 days, it was until I turned to a public forum hoping someone could give me some options that might help.

Bottom Line

THE CAR is running!

I really think Steven could do well as a shop, its really only his communication that is killing him. He definitely has the right ideas, (updated motor from S13 DOHC to S14 DOHC) , he is willing to stay late and get it done.

If he steps up on picking up the phone, returning calls, and giving updates, (yes even if it is bolt by bolt, if thats what the customer wants) then I would vouch for him 100%

Parts wise despite all this BS I would still vouch for him, good prices on parts, and he is willing to make sure they work, despite having to drive back to and from OC....but nonetheless no questions asked exchange, hard to find these days.

1-10, 10 being best

Price 7 (would be 10 if on time, no doubt)
Quality of parts 8.5
Quality of work 5 (little details missed)
Follow up 2
Time/Urgency .05
Attempt to make things up with upgrades 6.5
Exchange of parts without complaints 10

Steve your a good guy, I can tell, angry from miscommunication but overall tried his best to make things right

Listen...
We're trying to keep a smooth-running forum here...
You had a thread that was locked and 2 that were deleted in our attempts to keep it as such.
The rules in nearly every section CLEARLY state that This is not a grievance forum. You are failing to respect that in your incessant posting of threads about your issue... WE ARE NOT YOUR BLOG!!!
If you would post a thread that was fair and objective (and most importantly, in the right section, as a couple before this one was not), then the thread would remain active. Start here:
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=83800
... then see if you're more interested in accusing and being angry out in public or if you want someone to hear you being angry. At this point, we have had to close/remove SEVERAL threads that you've been flooding the forum with, it is reaching the point where I am willing to call what you're doing "spam," and most people know what we do with spammers/spambots.
Do not begin another of these threads until you're looking to do more than get a rise out of whomever you're reviewing, and I mean that.

*edit*
nice try at -rep, it did nothing.
