In my search for an intake for my 96 240, I have nailed down to getting AEM short ram intake or the Injen cold air intake.
Which one do you think i should get? What are the pros and cons between the two?

Any comments or suggestions are acceptable. THANK YOU..

hey man, i asked the same exact question, and from what i've heard, you should go with injen...i am. The piping diameter is larger, thus more hp, and the AEM intake has a tendency to get hot, while the injen doesnt. Also, i'd go with the short ram injen. AEM didnt make a cold air system for the 240 because it actually losed hp when it was initially tested and since AEM and Injen are pretty much the same, i imagine it'll do the same on the injen cold air (someone please correct me if i'm wrong). That's just my 2 cents man, but as for me, i'm goin with injen.

Everyone has injen, its just the best. The AEM pipe is also shorter then the injen, and in my opinion it just dosent look as cool as the injen version .

sup fellow drift lovers. i personally prefer the injen intake along with the cold air extension. aka race division....

it only increases about 14.9 hp to the wheels, dont believe me? hit the injen site at www.injen.com they got dyno sheets there. but if u wanna be different and get hotshots with an increase of about 8 hp as someone quoted above go head. im juss lookin for the best performer. cuz speed and power is my goal...

Lol, if you are getting an intake i'd be more conserned with sound than performance. We are not talking bout 15hp here, and not even 8hp... prolly something closer to 2-3?

HEY JERKOFF WHY DOES IT MATTER IF I TYPE IN CAPS? DO YOU NEED HOOKED ON PHONICS IF ITS NOT IN little letters. WHY DO LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS ON THESE FORUMS ALWAYS SEEM TO END UP WITH SOME asshole PIPING OFF ABOUT SOMTHING THAT DOESNT EVEN MATTER. AS FOR THE INJEN INTAKE I DIDNT KNOW IT HELPED THAT MUCH MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE RESEARCHED A LITTLE MORE BEFORE I BOUGHT THE HOTSHOT. THANKS FOR THE INFO!

Holy shit. You should relax... caps messages always piss people off on any forum. Hard to read annoying and altogether unessesary... that is why there is an edit button if per chance you did it "by mistake" there have been numerous post and I think that West even said at some point that all "caps" messages will be ignored altogether... and if it wasn't here it was one of the 30300203 other forums that hate it too... chill out and your stay at zilvia will be more enjoyable.

thats my point people need to relax. i probably did hit the caps lock button by accident. but does that have anything to do with intakes? no!! and it now has turned the post towards an argument about big letters and little letters...im done now. lets talk about intakes again!!

An intake pipe is an intake pipe. They are both mandrel bent...but even if they werent...it probably doesn't make any difference. I wouldn't put too much thought into it dude...I personally am sticking with the stock intake...no point in modifying something that is being pulled anyways.

yea uhh, Please guys stop typing all caps, I feel like I'm getting yelled at

TNord stop being a DICK. or I'm going to run your car thru a gas station car wash.

but you guys got it wrong, unless you are comparing injen CAI vs. AEM short ram. the AEM piping stays colder. This is due to the fact that AEM powdercoats the piping on their intake. (shields out the heat). I dont see how the larger piping will benefit the car since the throttle body is only 60mm. I guess the only way to find out is to dyno both intakes.

Ok imo you should get the injen cold air intake it is hella sweet sound on wot.Ask a few othe mebers that have heard them and heard mine on te way to the car show at the battle of the imports on the 22nd of june last month. Also if civickilla reads this my heart is still not back in the right place hahahaha. But as far as AEM and Injen if you are going to ge a sri"short ram" you can get wha ever you want but if you want the performance and a hella nice roar get the injen cai. Here is a pick of it on a 97 nad it is my baby hahahaha j/k but it is my car and intake.

Injen is better because the intake piping is bigger and because it is also carb legal. So win win

I also have a 96 240 except with the injen intake, a let me tell you speedemon, whenever the rpms hit about 2500 you hear the intake kick in giving more power to the wheels. It is diffentally worth the money.

Okay seriously, I'm having issues believe that you can get almost 15hp from an intake alone... rwhp what's more. Can someone post some dyno sheets, or a scan from whatever issue of SCC they dyno'ed it?

I know injen is good, but 15? c'mon.... someone show me some proof, not something from Injen; every company is biased when advertising their own stuff, I wanna see 3rd party info of some sort.

im not sayin this to bust ur nuts, but i did find it in scc, the first was "240 shoot out", in the january 99 issue im ive read it and tryin to get a hold of the issue maself, in march 99(this issue referenced to the jan. 99 issue, i have this issue) they tested other 240 components, 1 is the N1 1pc cat back exhaust. about 15 whp, no lie its in the mag, 2 is hot shots header 5 hp, and 3 is random tech cat. 3.8 max hp gain. and if im wrong, pleez let me kno. i dont wanna give out non-legit info.

about the intake it was in one other mag, im sure its in the shoot out scc mag. i think it wuz import tuner, where they test intakes and exhaust for a certain car that month ...forget the month and issue but i remember the numbers...sorry if i couldnt show u the paper...and the hav dyno sheets on the injen website www.injen.com in the test menu.. check it out, i dont think they'll forge dyno sheets hell wen i get the intake i'll go dyno it and show u all results. it'll prolly end up being less cuz ma 97 has 87,000 miles on it we'll see...

hey, buddy..........stop typing like an idiot. a short grammer lesson for you.

- the letter "z" is NOT interchangable with the letter "s"
- the only place capital letters are appropriate are at the beginning of sentences, names of people, names of specific places, major events in history, etc. ie "sCC" (i know this was an accident, it's just for future reference)
- using the correct spelling of "true" has a less annoying effect than using "trrrrrrruuuuueeee"
- perfect grammer is far from neccessary, but at least communicate in a post 4th grade level for the benefit of us all.

btw.....the injen intake does NOT give 15hp, it's 5. i know the exact issue of SCC you're talking about. they tested the JWT pop charger, the Stillen intake (basically the same as the JWT) and the injen sri. i don't even think the cai was available back in 99, so i highly doubt your claims are correct. results of the test were as follows; JWT and Stillen did effectively nothing while the injen gave 5hp.

and grant.......that car wash comment was very clever.
