Old threads remain open because there is no automatic lock cutoff, since there is a VEEEEEEERY obscure chance that there is a good reason to bump them, they don't fall off altogether to allow people to search for old information. Bumping an old thread with bad reasoning is one way to see green squares turn red, complaining when that happens is a way to see those reds multiply like little bunny rabbits, as I am sure you now see.
I am not going to allow this to last any longer.
